Blue Rodeo Is Going To The Grey Cup

Canadian football fans and Blue Rodeo fans rejoice because your two favourite things are coming together on November 29.  “I’ve been watching the Grey Cup all my life and it’s really exciting to be playing the Half-time show,” said Jim Cuddy.  The CFL announced today that Blue Rodeo will play this year's halftime show, and you get to choose which songs the band plays!

Visit the "Name Your Playlist" contest at GreyCupHalfTimeShow.ca and select three songs from the following list of hits:

  • Lost Together
  • Hasn’t Hit Me Yet
  • Rose Coloured Glasses
  • Heart Like Mine
  • Diamond Mine
  • Trust Yourself
  • C’mon
  • Til I am Myself Again
  • Walk Like You Don’t Mind
  • Head Over Heels

Contest is open until November 20, with great weekly prize packs available to be won.

While music is undoubtedly Cuddy's and Keelor's bond, football also brought them together – literally.

“I was the quarterback of the junior team at our high school, and Greg was a senior defensive end, and somehow he missed the memo about not rocking the quarterback during a scrimmage,” Cuddy joked.

“To this day, I tell Jim that I knew back then: as quarterbacks go, he was going to be a great musician. It’s funny to think that 30 years later that we’re actually playing the Grey Cup,” Greg explained.

I had the awesome pleasure of meeting Jim Cuddy in the Los Angeles airport on October 11, 2009 after they played Joshua Tree. I was enroute to Red Deer via my flight to Calgary and just killing time at the airport. Jim couldn't have been more gracious and when I told him I was a musician and had a band in Red Deer he was interested and asked about our band.I walked away loving Blue Rodeo even more!!!

My choices for Grey Cup songs are:

Head Over Heels
Lost Together
Til I Am Myself Again

Blue Rodeo is one of my favorites.  I think Diamond Mine and Head Over Heels would be just great for the Grey Cup
- hopefully Bombers are in.
