Blue Rodeo Throw a Street Party to Celebrate New Album

To celebrate the launch of their new double album, The Things We Left Behind, Blue Rodeo are throwing a street party in their hometown of Toronto. The band will perform selections from the new album from the roof of the Diesel Playhouse (55 Blue Jays Way) at 2:30 pm on Tuesday, November 10. The City of Toronto is closing off both Blue Jays Way and Mercer Street that afternoon for the special public performance.

Congratulations to BlueRodeo.com members getfit, Ann, Cruisegirl93, Virginia and paisleee who each won a pair of tickets to be on the roof for this show.

If you weren't lucky enough to get on to the roof, you're welcome to come on down and join the party on the street. You'll be able to watch the performance on large screens set up in front of the venue.

If its $60+ in the Soo, forget it,  paid more the last tour on a weekday show, was not imprest they mailed it in.  Love the band,  16 plus live performances, the Canadiana and all it hits home, but the live show these days lacks passion,  when passion fails, form takes over.  Forget the set list once in a while, Bazil is a little ol wine drinker too!

Hoping someone is working on the sign-in problem.  Huge fan...can't see them too many times...I'm willing to pay the $$ this time.  This show will determine future spending.  $70 is hitting the limit!!

This will be my first Blue Rodeo concert, although I have been a fan for MANY years.  What a treat it will be to see them on stage!  Fans should remember that they are part of the concert experience, and should remain open to however the band chooses to present their impressive body of work.

Looking forward to Feb 3rd!!

I'm so excited.  I saw Blue Rodeo when they played at Nathan's Philip Square for New Years in the late 80's early 90's (can't remember exactly)and then again in August at the Ontario Place. Yesterday I was able to get tickets to their show in Hamilton as well as Barrie ... my home town..can't wait to see old friends at this concert.

Saw the free concert today.  Was expecting 5 or 6 songs, dicey sound.
Wow. 14 songs, 75 minutes, great sound.  Played 12 of the new 16 songs, plus Hasn't Hit Me Yet and Til I Am Myself Again.
And to have backup singers, one of whom also played the flute, plus strings.  Great concert!!  All The Things That Are Left Behind rocked big-time.  Should have been way more people to see this.

As for the Massey Hall shows, one ticket was 83.50.  I was a little surprised, but then I saw today's show.  The new songs are fantastic and there was no complacency.  83.50 at Massey Hall to see one of this country's legendary acts?  I think they've earned the right to expect top dollar.  My only dismay was that I couldn't choose my seat.  I hope buying it at 12:01 gets me close and centre!!!!  :) :)

Can't wait for my first Toronto BR concert -- it's always been Vancouver or Whistler.  When I heard "Lake Ontario" in Hasn't Hit Me Yet today, it was pretty frickin' sweet.

I was looking forward to seeing artwork on the album cover, not photography. The music is always so layered and creative and the look of the album could've reflected that.

70$ is fair for a concert, but think about what you're getting for it!! It's live entertainment. Alot of bars you have to pay a 5 or 10 or 20$ cover charge just to get inside and then listen to a bad DJ play bad music all night long and pay 8 bucks for a beer. People gladly pay 45$ for a concert for a band only has 2 or 3 hits. At least with BR you know you'll get 2 hours of awesome music. Hasn't Hit Me Yet live is almost as good as the National Anthem in the NHL Playoffs!

Hey Mo-To...

Love your comment..

"Hasn't Hit Me Yet live is almost as good as the National Anthem in the NHL Playoffs!"

Couldn't have said it better myself..

I've seen BR at least a dozen times...and have yet to witness a bad, or even mediocre show.  So, if you call yourself a fan, 70-bones for a performance that's pretty much a guaranteed crowd pleaser is a no brainer.

Besides, they have a national tour every two years....maybe you should've saved up....
