    Live Concert Disc?

    Hey Everyone,

I know in a previous thread LJo brought up the interest in a Blue Rodeo DVD of one live performance from each province that they're in when touring across Canada. I was just curious if the idea of being able to purchase a live CD of the performance after the concert itself would interest any of you?

If you have a sec, pop into the homepage and take our new poll... We'd really love to hear your thoughts and feedback on this Smile

    Re: Live Concert Disc?

Interesting question. I think I would if it was a soundboard quality recording. There already is a good network that shares shows tapped by fans, so again if it was soundboard quality I would purchase a show even if I was not there.

    Re: Live Concert Disc?

Most definitely!! I'd even be interested in shows I didn't attend. I know the Barenaked Ladies offer live recordings of their shows now and I think it's a great idea.

I'd LOVE to have a copy of the Red Deer show, some of it is kind of fuzzy in my head because I was so lovestruck by Jim!

    Re: Live Concert Disc?

The idea of purchasing a cd right after the show is interesting, but perhaps not that practical. I see it being a time-consuming function after the show.

I'm aware that the technology exists, and heard that the Pixies did it last year.

I think that a better solution is to use a service like livedownloads.com. The Hip have 3 or their show there, at a reasonable price. You just download and burn! They even include album art!

Another band, the String Cheese Incident (great band!) post ALL of their shows.

I would love to get some soundboard quality BR shows, and would gladly pay for them!

    Re: Live Concert Disc?

I would be 110% in favour of this idea. I collect hundreds of bootlegs by dozens of bands, and if I had the opportunity to actually PAY the band for recordings of their concerts, I'd do it in a heartbeat. I have literally hundreds of hours of live music I've obtained for free through the net, and I wouldn't mind giving a little back. I even have three BR bootlegs they could have charged me for and I would gladly have ponied up the dough.

Think about it - how many times have you read a review where people say "the band was really ON tonight!!!" or "they played this long-forgotten gem" and thought 'if only I could have a recording of that....'. People would most definitely buy recordings of shows they didn't even attend in person!

    Re: Live Concert Disc?

YES!!! Absolutely! I think it's a great idea and as stated above, I would even purchase other cities if they were available.
