I kind of splurged today while I was at Walmart picking up socks and underwear. haha! I hate Walmart. Every time I go in there to buy something specific, I end up getting all this other stuff that I hadn't planned on getting.
So anyway, I bought this awesome Paul McCartney DVD. It's called "The McCartney Years". I watched some of it this afternoon and was really impressed with the sound and content. I loved hearing the "Unplugged" stuff in 5.1 surround sound. There were also many videos I had never seen before which was a treat... and some videos I remember loving as a kid. I highly recommend this one to you all. Here's a little write up about it:
Four decades' worth of rare footage, live performance and music videos have been rounded up for "The McCartney Years," a three-DVD set due Nov. 13 via MPL/Rhino Entertainment. McCartney has also recorded new commentary for the 40-plus videos, which can be viewed in chronological order or via his own custom playlists.
The first two discs comprise the videos, beginning with 1970's "Maybe I'm Amazed" and running through 2005's "Fine Line." Bonus features on these discs include a "Band on the Run" promo film and a documentary on the making of McCartney's 2005 album "Chaos and Creation in the Backyard."
The third disc features snippets from "Rockshow," filmed on the 1976 Wings tour, a new edit of McCartney's 1991 appearance on MTV's "Unplugged" and 11 songs from his 2004 headlining set at the U.K.'s Glastonbury Festival. The live footage also boasts new commentary from McCartney.

I also got a Johnny Cash DVD. This one is called "The Best of the Johnny Cash Show, 1969-1971". They were playing it on a big screen TV at Walmart and it caught my attention... so I looked at the box and looked at the track listing and had to have it. It's got Neil Young, Bob Dylan, CCR, Merle Haggard, George Jones, Joni Mitchell, Derick and the Dominos, just to name a few. Awesome stuff!
Another great DVD I had the pleasure of seeing is Eric Clapton's "Crossroads 2007". My friend lent it to me and I didn't want to give it back! I guess I'm going to have to buy myself my own copy now. My favourite song on the entire DVD is "Tulsa Town" featuring Sheryl Crow, Vince Gill, Eric Clapton and I forget the other guy's name... but he was awesome too. If you like guitar rock, you definitely need to get this DVD.
A couple of others I should mention are some that I picked up when I was in Las Vegas during Christmas Break. I got "Sin City - A Tribute to Gram Parsons" (lots of amazing guest musicians), and a Billy Joel box set that includes a live DVD from his "River of Dreams" tour. I don't know if I've ever mentioned here what a HUGE Billy Joel fan I am... I've been in love with him since I was 10 years old... and oh my god, watching this DVD reminded me why I love him so much. I soooooooooo want to see him live someday. I was almost tempted to buy a plane ticket to go see him in Milwaukee, of all places, on March 2nd. haha!
So anyway, I guess I'm rambling on a bit here. I'll leave the floor open to you guys now. What DVD's have you purchased lately??
