Wow, seriously Adele??? I haven't seen that commercial yet, but that's pretty cool! How did he get in the commercial?

Larry was riding his bike down the street in Yorkville when the film crew spotted him. They said, "A handsome fellow like you should be in commercials. Would you like to be in one?" He accepted. In fact, he's still wearing his bike helmet onscreen!

Re: I'm all alone at work!

schwa_guy went out shopping three times today - what a glutton for punishment! laugh First, he and schwa_kid#1 went down to the Eaton Centre this morning, and the crowds weren't too bad. Then he and I went out for some essentials at the pharmacy and the grocery store (took us three tries to find one that was open, though). He just got back from a second trip to the Eaton Centre with the other schwa_kid. This time, the place was shoulder-to-shoulder packed, and an undercurrent of "mall rage" was apparent.

I got smart and did my sale shopping on December 23rd. The only thing I try to get every year is a selection of seasonal greeting cards at 50% off. The corner pharmacy has had them on sale for over a month question so I didn't have to fight any crowds. I don't miss that aspect of Boxing Day!

Our Japanese tutor told us that in Japan, the whole first week of January is a holiday. Sounds even better to me than Christmas-Boxing Day-New Year's!

Hurray for Boxing Day!! My father-in-law gave me money for Christmas. I spent most of it at the Roots in Yorkville. I got a nice burgundy hoody, a couple of yoga t-shirts (starting yoga in Jan 2004!), and a great stylized Canadian flag t-shirt (now I have something to wear on July 1).

For Allison and BED... sorry to hear you weren't well. I had that cold too, all last week, didn't start feeling better until Tuesday this week. Took the Buckley's. There's nothing like the taste of pine needles mixed with hot peppers, is there? (If you read the ingredients, you'll see that those two things are actully in there, among other goodies.) But to really stop my cough, I had to get cough syrup with DM.

It'll take two weeks from the start of your cold until you feel like your old self again. In the meantime, get plenty of rest, fluids, TLC.

for the record, the U.S. does not officially observe any holiday the day after Christmas ... most people take the day off anyway so they can go to the malls, exchange gifts they don't want and take advantage of clearance sales ... I suppose we here in the States could give that day an official name, but we already have "Black Friday" the day after our Thanksgiving ... maybe we could call it "Getting Rid of Unwanted Stuff" Day? I bumped into a friend at the pharmacy yesterday, and he said one of his relatives calls December 25th "Crass-mass" Day. Maybe you folks south of the 49th could use that name for December 26th! Wink

Ahhh, so THAT'S what gives it that pungent "flavour" Roll Eyes

Sorry to hear you weren't feeling well either, granolaGirl. Yeah, I've been getting plenty of rest over the holidays, thankfully...not like I've had much choice, really. I'm usually pretty drained by the end of the day, so rather than being the nightowl that I usually am, whenever I'm tired enough, I've been going to bed!

Well...maybe not tonight, though...gotta watch the HNIC replay later tonight, after I get home from seeing the relatives! Wink

Hey schwa_girl.. I saw that commercial today with Larry and his bike helmet. So you actually know this guy? Pretty cool! I've never tried Buckley's... I usually buy the cheap stuff. hehe!
