    Re: PRESALES

    Ummm....REALLY??? Red Face

I could have sworn it was here.

Anyway, sorry about the above and my sincere apologies to whoever I may have offended if that was (is) the case (He said as the eggs dripped and slithered from his countenance.)
To be or not to be is NOT the question!

Rather, is it your will to be here, or to be elsewhere?

I think that what is unfair is the fact that anybody can buy the presale tickets, you simply need an investigative niche to learn of the presale. Another unfair element is the fact that people buy a quantity of tickets from the presale in the amount of 5+ for their friends who aren't even part of the Bluerodeo.com community. These people are getting the best seats without even supporting the bands fan network. I never understood this because in the end you are there to enjoy the show, not socialize, save that for the intermission!!! I would love to see a "LOG IN" feature added to the presale, where members of the site can go and purchase tickets for themselves and maximum of three other people they are attending with, and leave the sharks to fend for themselves during the regular sale.
I have heard a lot of people trying to say that there isn't a bad seat in the house for this eventr, well, if that is the case, then why have a presale at all?
We as bluerodeo.com members shouldn't be pitted against each other, we should, instead, work together to petition a better system of ensuring that the people who participate actively in the BR community get rewarded when the band plays an event. Luck should have no place on this site!!!
I think I will take this year off from the Stratford event, and let the "lucky" people bask in the glory of being so close to Jim Cuddy that they could count the hairs on his head. I would love to do the same, but I think I will be eating my sour grapes those nights.
    Cheers

I actually disagree with this. Just because someone doesn't post a lot, doesn't mean they aren't a big supporter of the band. Not everyone has access to the web on a regular basis, a lot of people have numerous family commitments, multiple jobs, etc. that prevent them from being an active member.

I also think luck plays a part when getting tickets for ANY event, whether it's through a pre-sale, ticketmaster or any other ticket agency. Sometimes I luck out with ticketmaster, other times I have terrible luck!

    Re: PRESALES

I agree with you Donna. One of my best friends is a huge Blue Rodeo fan and yet she is rarely on the board. It doesn't mean she is less of a fan than others. There was also a comment about people buying five or six tickets and not all of them being for fans. Well our group bought tickets in large groups but we are all big fans. It comes down to luck and while I am not saying there can't be changes I think there will always be some people who are disappointed. The only thing I wasn't thrilled about was that the pre-sale was advertized in the paper in Stratford. I love than Blue Rodeo offers the pre-sales.

Greg Keelor met Jim Cuddy and then I met you people. Serendipity is a marvellous thing.

    Re: PRESALES

    Hmmmmm,
It seems that my ideas flew like a led balloon. I certainly don't want people to think that I am high and mighty on the discussion board and the participation therein. What I do want people to realize is that when the pre-sale was offered last year, the email that I got stated that "the best seats have been reserved for private sale to members of br.com." I don't think that every BR fan is a member of the site, and there are probably people who are way more fanatical about the band than I am who have never put finger to keyboard. However, in the immortal words of an American express executive, and a commanding officer I once had in the Armed Forces, "membership has it's privileges!"

On a differeent note, we live in a democratic society, and forums are here for us to share ideas and reflect on what others may believe. People are free to not agree with what I think, and I am not expressing my ideas because I want people to HEAR THE ALMIGHTY IAN SPEAK, I simply had a few ideas on what might make it easier for people like me to get tickets. In any case, I would love to hear eveybody elses ideas on how they think the pre-sale could be made better, or if it should stay the same, isn't that what this thread is for?
I am slightly confused on why it would matter that the pre-sale was in the Stratford paper. Is it not the same as finding out about the pre-sale from any other avenue? Is it the fact that it gives the people who live in stratford advanced notice about the pre-sale? Just curious

    Re: PRESALES

Oh boy, your reference to American Express reminded me of an experience one of my co-workers had on Friday!

American Express held a Pre-Sale event for the upcoming Hilary Duff show at the Corel Centre... No problem... Well, when my coworker went to the box office to purchase tickets on the morning that the tix were to go on sale to the general public (she was one of the first people in line) she was told that the only seats available were in the 300 level!! ALL the floor seats, ALL the 100 level seats and ALL the 200 level seats were bought during the pre-sale by the American Express card holders! You wanna talk about one p*ssed off co-worker... So now, her 8 year old daugher will have to sit way up in the nose bleed seats to see her *idol*...

At least with the BR pre-sales, the amount of tickets available are pretty limited, so if you miss the pre-sale, you still have a very good chance of getting excellent seats, but for a corporation as big as Corel to pull as stunt like this? Un-freaking-believable! I hate that venue anyway! Blech!

Actually, I noticed that some of the people who bought their Stratford tickets through the box office instead of the pre-sale ended up with better seats -- that's if you consider closer to the stage better (I do! Big Grin)

Anyway, sorry to get off topic, but I thought the Hilary Duff story was kinda relevant... Just goes to show that pre-sale mishaps happen everywhere!

Sorry I didn't express that very well. My understanding is that in the past pre-sales were not advertized in papers etc. I didn't mean specifically the Stratford paper(s) although that paper was mentioned earlier in another thread. I think that the people who like a band a great deal will do some investigating, hear through word of mouth or through the mailing list if there is a pre-sale. Most people would probably check the website of the band. I do like the idea of big fans getting a chance at the pre-sale tickets. I just don't think that you have to be a member of the discussion board to be a big fan. I would not be in favour of people having to have a certain amount of posts to qualify. My feeling about the advertizing is a minor comment from my point of view because I think it's great that BR.COM offers some pre-sales. Smile

Ian, I didn't think that at all! I think constructive criticism and a sharing of ideas is always a good thing.

    Re: PRESALES

I have a question, maybe it will get answered here? Smile
I love the fact that we are now getting to see the pre-sale seats ahead of time.
BUT, if the first seven rows, for instance, are reserved for pre-sales, where are the 'band-holds', the seats reserved for the band to give to whomever they choose, like family, friends, etc.? Confused

I wondered that too Deb and had emailed Lisa regarding these seats but she didn't have any info on it.

Steve if it makes you feel any better I didn't get my seat assignment till the beginning of last week I believe and the show is tomorrow night, so you could be waiting awhile yet. And we still don't have the seats for the Victoria show yet which is only a week away.
