    Re: 2008 Molson Amp Show

We used to go to the AMP all the time for the shows!  Then we realised the bad venue (sound), drunk fans, inability to enjoy your seats (stage rush - no fun when you paid for front row) wasn't worth the $90 per tickets price.  As mentioned, a little parking, a few drinks and it's a $250 EASILY.  Doubt we will ever see BR there again when there are so many other much better venues for a fraction of the price.

Me too, I went EVERY year, until last year, I decided that it was just too much to pay for a ticket when I had drunks swinging beer bottles my wayNo especially when BR's playing ARGH  So I no longer go, it was tough though, the first year missing it, it hurt BIG TIME but I thought I just can't do it---they just don't respect the band.   Plus, I don't like walking out of the AMP wearing someone else's boozeConfused

I agree with Dizzy...I have gone the last 4 years but this year I decided to wait for another show. It was a tough decision but I already have Paris tickets. Hopefully Brantford and Stratford for me this year. I am sure all those going will have an awesome time..after all.. its BLUE RODEO!!!

C'mon, it can't be that bad at the Amp.  I hope not anyway!  I'm sorry if you did have a bad experience, though.  It should be fun for everyone in attendance.  I don't have opportunity to travel around the province or country to see them so this is my best chance (though I could have went at the Massey Hall, I guess, but didn't really have time).

    Re: 2008 Molson Amp Show

The Amp is a great venue if you like the party atmosphere and not really hearing the band, though it depends where your seats are.  Plus, if you're on the floor, there's always something weird happening, like beer bottles flying, booze being spilled everywhere, people coming to talk and not to hear the band.

That's what I don't get, why spend soooo much money on a ticket and not take in the show???? Makes NO SENSE to me.  I've gone and had good seats and had crappy seats, and either way, the sound isn't it's best sooooo I've just decided that another venue would work so much better for me. However, that been said, I've always had a GOOD time even though the people kind of made it frustrating.

I remember when Kris Kristofferson opened for BR I guess it was 2005 but don't quote me on that date. Well, people were SO RUDE. They talked through most of his set, they didn't give him the respect and the attention that his music deserves. I was sooooo mad that it just started the night off on the wrong foot. The Amp is too big of a venue for me to enjoy the music that I love so dearly. You're basically watching them on the jumbotron cause it's so vast.  Not the greatest if you know what other venues are like.

Have a GOOD time Wink Hope I didn't deflate your expectations. You'll have fun.

    Re: 2008 Molson Amp Show

Thanks for the input.  I haven't been to a lot of concerts so I don't really have any expectations.  In fact I've only been to U2 at the ACC and it was so loud that it didn't matter if people were talking or not. :)  But you're right - why pay all that money to not pay attention?

I don't care about people drinking but if it makes it a bad experience for others than they shouldn't.

It'll be an experience anyway. :)  Still a long ways off ...

    Re: 2008 Molson Amp Show

I have to agree with some folks one this one.  I went to the Amp show every year for about 5 years maybe six and I too stopped going.  I don't mind the venue per se however I don't think its worth $90 bucks, parking sucks and its a pain in the ass to get to.  Whoever mentioned that party atmosphere was dead on.  I'm all for the partying (elsewhere) but I want to enjoy the show....that's what I paid 90 bucks for so shut the hell up.  I agree with Peter, there are many other great venues with lesser ticket prices.  So we'll see you at those shows.

Ah, never, ever park down by the Ex Grounds. :)  The streetcar stops right by there, or the GO Train, so that's much easier.  Maybe I'll try and tell people to shut up when I'm there if they're too chatty.  Watch for the report on the guy in the hospital on the 6:00 news. :)

LOL,  however, I don't think they'll listen. But hey, it might be totally different this year--it all depends on the crowd.  And, you just never know, I just might give in last minute and buy tickets, that's happened before, mind you, I didn't get GOOD seats, but at least I was under the roofYes just in case of rain

Sitting in the rain .. people talking .. beer spraying on you ...  fun fun fun! :)

Would Blue Rodeo ever consider the ACC as a venue, or would they just not draw enough for it to be worth it?  I guess they're probably better suited for the smaller venues.

They sell out the Molson Amp each year, but I think it's more or less like a tradition now. Not sure about the ACC. Maybe someone else here knows better.......ANYONE??????

Have to say, I saw them at Skydome years ago with Simon & Garfunkel, Gordon Lightfoot...and it was just not the same...it was too big a venue and wasn't the same at all...

    Re: 2008 Molson Amp Show

Any word yet on who the opener is?  The Amp is not my favourite venue, and I wouldn't normally go there to see BR (since they come to Peterborough regularly), but last year I went because the Old 97's were opening.  Problem is, they announced the opening band so late that we ended up with mediocre seats.  We would have ordered way earlier if we had known who the openers were.

    Re: 2008 Molson Amp Show

Hey all, I'll be at the show with an old friend of mine from way back in elementary school - so this'll be my second Molson Amphitheatre show, although this time I'll be a little bit up from the floors - which suits me fine, actually, as I found the sound quality was a little diminished by sitting so close up in such a large venue...so I'm looking forward to it! I'll be there in my black Blue Rodeo 2008 tour hat with my "Brown Eyed Dog" nametag pinned to it!
