Outskirts it is then! Will have to order it soon as I can. I am off to shovel snow for a family from S.C. that will arrive Thursday to make Alaska their new home! I'll turn them on to BR, certainly!! We have a guest house and a rental cabin whenever you do make it up here, Katiescarlet, if you need to get away from the humit hot weather! FLA is cool, love the color of the water at the Keys!

Thank you for that most hospitable offer, now we just need to convince the boys to play a show up your way and we'd all be set Wink.

Thank you so much everybody! And Alreadygone, I can make you laugh, because up until this year when we drove through Quesnel, I always pronounced it Kweznell, LOL! Love Route 97, and we checked out Lake Shuswap area, drove all the way out to Seymore Arm to see that remote community. We already live remote, but heard it was nice, and we liked it but at least we have power and telephone where we live now and I am the one who works on the phones here. We have a flying service also, check out our web site, www.circleair.com;-) We love Alaska, but really love B.C. too! I wouldn't mind a place at Scotch Creek even if it wasn't on the lake. I really loved seeing some of the Native people in BC and YT. I travel for work in the Athabascan villages in northeastern Alaska and they make me feel so at home! Yup, and definitely will be looking for an opportunity to go see Blue Rodeo. I have a friend in Vernon, BC now, too who might want to join me. Oh, and if anyone hears of reasonable land on a lake somewhere in B.C. for sale clue me in, eh? You can e-mail me at arcticwildflower@aol.com. Thanks everyone!

You wouldn't be the first to pronounce it Kwesnel.  Actully as a joke, Barney Bentall (popular musician from BC who actually lives in Clinton another town on the great hwy 97) signed a CD to me and spelt Quesnel that way. Hehheheheee  You mention Seymore Arm, my husband grew up spending summers there with the family, and I have a girlfriend who just moved from Scotch Creek, its very beautiful around there.

    Thank you Ann!

Thanks Alreadygone! How is the weather in Quesnel anyway? All of our snow is melting very quickly here this week! It's 48F and not freezing at night....this is 2 weeks early for mud season but I won't complain. Have to get busy and order my next set of cd's;-) except I am still enjoying the first 3. Ask your friend that moved from Scotch Creek if she knows who owns that old abandoned farmhouse in town w/old barn almost ready to fall in. Can't stop thinking about that one. I bet that road out to Seymore Arm is a mess this time of year.

Welcome, ArcticWildflower! It's great to have you. :o)

Outskirts is definitely a great place to start for buying more CD's. Also, the one I have been listening to most recently is Are You Ready. I think it's a great CD and there are so many of my (atm) fave songs on it, like Beverley Street, Rena and ESPECIALLY Up On That Cloud. I just LOVE how Greg skips over the lyrics in that song. :D I'm definitely a Keelorite, btw. :D

    Welcome again! :o)

Love and understanding are the best answers I've heard yet.

    Welcome ArcticWildflower!!

Aside from Outskirts, I would probably recommend Lost Together and Tremolo, both have some really great songs....what am I saying, they all have great songs!! lol  I'm sure that before you know it, you'll have them all and be dying for more, just like the rest of us! Stick out tongue

Re: Why are Alaskans not familiar with Blue Rodeo?

Welcome to the board ArcticWildFlower!  I'm glad that you discovered Blue Rodeo... and the more of their music you get, the more of a fan I'm sure you will become.  I remember when I first got into them, I went to all of the pawn shops and would buy anything of Blue Rodeo's I could find.  Let me tell you, it didn't take long until I had their entire collection.  It was after seing them live that I became hooked.  The first cd I got after that concert was "Nowhere to Here".  I remember falling in love with the song "Blew it Again".  I must have listened to it at least 10 times in a row.  I was literally "blown away".  haha  That album is a little different than most of BR's material... it's a little darker and less country.

    Enjoy the musical journey!!

Re: Why are Alaskans not familiar with Blue Rodeo?

Thank you Allison, and everyone else who has welcomed me and suggested cd's, because I just ordered Outskirts, Are You Ready and Jim Cuddy's Light That Guides You Home. I'm certain I will have plenty of new stuff to get hooked on for a few months;-) I feel the lyrics are like part of my life. How do these guys do it, they are soooo awesome! I have no clue yet who's doing lead vocals on which songs but eventually will get familiar with them. I would love to meet them some day. I hope we can get them up here. We have a big Bluegrass festival in Anderson in July but I'm sure it would cost a lot to get them to come play. Anyone who loves music up here ends up there. I went once and saw some really cool band from Whitehorse but can't remember their name. What I enjoy most about BR's music is the way most of it keeps your spirits up. It makes the rest of the world just fade away! I so want to get everyone else hooked on them, too~!

You'll be able to tell Jim's voice from Greg's voice, they're so different. So just listen to them a lotYes then you'll wonder how on earth you couldn't tell them apart before

Re: Why are Alaskans not familiar with Blue Rodeo?

Funny story. Before seeing Blue Rodeo live, I thought there was only one singer (Jim Cuddy).  I had only heard his songs on the radio ("Try", "Til I am myself again", "Five Days in May", "After the Rain", etc.).  At the concert, the first song they did was "Hasn't hit me yet" and I wondered who that other guy was (Greg).  haha!
