I was thinking two to three times that amount.  Transportation, equipment, the crew, venue plus all the bands other costs like food and rooms.

It is an interesting idea. I heard that its actually possible to book Paul McCartney...for 4 million dollars a night.

Four million bucks, eh? Hmm...guess I'll have to go to the First Bank of Savings and Couch Cushions and scrape together the funds! Stick out tongue

(but seriously, booking Macca for a personal gig is probably the only realistic chance I'd have of seeing him! I swear tickets for his shows sell out before they're even announced.)

    Re: "Rent" Blue Rodeo

I'm guessing that the booking fee for a band like BR would depend on the size of the gig.

The band played a benefit for a small northern college (Keyano) not long ago. They donated $25,000. I always figured that was equivalent to their fee. Naturally, however, their fee for the small gigs must be less. The Mission show has something like 600 seats at $50 a pop and some of the ticket price would be handling fees, not proceeds.

Josh, some of the people here have held house parties showcasing smaller artists. They might be willing to talk about the costs involved.

    Re: "Rent" Blue Rodeo

Well, if I ever did something like this, I would probally raise all my Money for it. Like I said: Demo C.D, busking with my friends, People at my cottage would most likely donate, And that would raise money for me pretty fast!

It would be just a secluded cottage with maybe 100 people.. But and on top of that, I would invite anyone here who could make it!

Hey there Josh... I worked at a major Canadian bank a few years ago and they had booked BR for their Christmas party that year, the band's fee was $60 000. I posted about it, if I find the link, I'll post it here.

Well if you sold tickets for $100 each it would still be a pretty intimate show with only 600 peeps & most of those would probably be crazies/boardies. Big SmileStick out tongue
