    Siberry reference in This Road

I just figured out the reference to

    ...Jane sings a song about
    That old tin drum
    Banging on the shore

    in This Road. Siberry. Duh.

About an hour ago, I listened to k.d. lang's cover of Love Is Everything on Hymns of the 49th Parallel.

Am I the last one in the BR kingdom to get it?   Head smack.

No - I missed it too. Although you don't get a lot of Jane Siberry music down here in the states.

Hi Folks... here's an interesting article about The Rheostatics and Jane Siberry:

That certainly is an interesting article GG!  Humourous as well.

I saw Jane open for Blue Rodeo at Gage Park back in the summer of 86(?)...87(?).  I forget exactly what the year was. I hate to admit this... but I left early because I had to go to work in the morning (!!!!)  Can you believe it?!  Now, after having had children, I have come to realize that I can go to work on little or no sleep at all!SurpriseBig Smile

What's with her changing her name to Issa?  Has anyone seen her perform under that name?

I read that a few weeks ago too, on Wiki.

It seems she chose Issa as a feminized form of Isaiah, around the same time she rejected her worldly belongings, but for a guitar...  good for her I say!  Oh to be as free...

To answer your question - I haven't had the good fortune to see her, neither ante- nor post-name-change!

By the way, thanks for the interesting post, Snowfalling.

And on a completely unrelated note... the Toronto-based band Rock Plaza Central do a cover of "You Don't Need" http://youtube.com/watch?v=NKyQ5X6zAic
