Nicki, Bob is my favourite too and I felt the same way when I got the chance to talk to him, afterward I thought of all these things I could have asked him. I hope the house party works out - I'm sure it will and it'll be fantastic - you'll have to keep us posted.

hmmmm.... well, I like Jim and Greg equally. I think they are both incredibly sexy and talented. One song will have me saying "oh, I think I like Jim best", then another will come on with Greg singing that makes me positively swoon. I just can't decide.

I will definately keep you posted on the house party idea!! And, believe me if it actually comes about that I get to host one. There is no way I will be able to keep my excitement to myself, i will have to share it with everyone!!

I know what you mean about the Jim and Greg thing too!! I will listen to Bulletproof (my absolute fav. BR song to date) and think that Jim has the best voice. But, then I listen to Stage Door or Side of the Road and I will think the same thing about Greg!! And, don't even get me started on the ideas that pop into my head when I listen to either of Bob's solo cd's!! Needless to say, he is still my favorite!!

Re: Your Favourite Blue Rodeo MEMBER!!

I have to agree with Dayna. After meeting the guys a "few" times it is really hard to pick one person. I have managed to have "coherent" conversations with all of them. I used to be afraid of Greg, I think that when he doesn't have his glasses on he doesn't see well and he can look rather aloof, but in 2000 I met him after a show in Saint John, and he was so sweet, ever since then I have never been afraid to approach him.
Jim, well what can I say, this last tour I had a running joke with him over the song Armour. I saw on the set list in Halifax that they were supposed to play it but didn't, greg did Diamond Mine instead, so after the show I called him on it. I said he should play it in Antigonish, again no Armour, when I called him on it again, he said "Oh thats right I said I would do it", so once again I said well you can do it in Glace Bay, again no Armour. Well after that show I called him on it again, he looked mortified that he forgot again, but the good thing is that now he remembers me!
I have also chatted with Glenn, and I think it is so sweet how he comes over with his hand out to introduce himself, as if we don't know who he is!
Baz I find is extremely chatty, get him on a topic that he is interested in and he will talk as long as you like.
James is like the social butterfly, he just moves from group to group, and Bob, I have found it depends on the crowd. If there are ppl he knows better, that is who he seems to stay with.
I have also talked with all the "Bushwack" horns too, very sweet guys all of them. The best part for me is that they just can't seem to get over their good fortune at having hooked up with BR. They seem to be almost as starstruck sometimes as we are!
I think it all comes down to personalities too, you don't always "click" with everyone. I know this from my work, somedays clients sit in my chair that I absolutely can't manage to carry on a conversation with, usually they don't come back, I have also had clients (who the stylist will say is difficult, weird, excentric etc.)of other stylists that I work with sit in my chair and I have gotten along with them great.

There is absolutley no doubt that Glenn is my favorite! Not only is he gorgeous, but he is such a gifted musician. . .What I would give to be one of those drum sticks! :O
I admire all of the guys in Blue Rodeo for pursuing musical careers and for staying true to their Canadian roots! Hopefully someday I will be lucky enough to meet them! I can't wit!

Re: Your Favourite Blue Rodeo MEMBER!!

I was reading all the posts on this topic, and now I have a question that I hope someone can answer. Big Grin

I have mentioned in here before that I have a disability and due to it I cannot sit on the floor near the stage for concerts. Therefore, I don't have the advantage of catching items (guitar pics and the like) that get thrown into the audience. Does anyone out there who has a BR guitar pick or drumstick, know how I can get one? I have seen the guys numerous times, and meet them just as many times. And, to date I still don't have a guitar pick, drumstick or even a setlist from any of the guys. How can I go about getting something like this if my concert seats are nowhere near the stage?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Angel - do you mean Kevin Hearn from BNL? He's not my thing, but my sister is absolutely nuts for the guy - second only to Jim, in her books.

Nicki, I have no idea. I would venture that there are more of us who DON'T have sticks, picks, etc. than those who do. It sounds like you have met them on several occasions - why not just ask Jim or Greg for a guitar pick?

Re: Your Favourite Blue Rodeo MEMBER!!

Sorry for the indescision, but it's a dead heat between the two front men and I must say that that Bazil is way underrated but yet highly effective as his mode of trasport.
Greg get's by on character and a great feel and vibe within' the music. Jim can evoke emotions when his voice is in the Zone. I would say to date I've liked Jim solo offering a little more then Greg's but as far as the Blue Rodeo thing goes it's a dead heat. I found Greg seemed paticulary hot on the latest record but Jim has carried the bulk before. Not to say he didn't make some very fine contributions this time as well. My favorite two Blue Rodeo song's are off Nowhere To Here, Girl In Green and Better Off as We Are. Again it's a dead heat. Oh Well.

Re: Your Favourite Blue Rodeo MEMBER!!

Nicki, I'd go with what katie said. The only way I know of to get something from the guys is if you've met them to ask them yourself! Silly me, I didn't even think to ask Greg for a pick when I met him! Razz

Welcome to the board, Angel and J Jaymz!! Smile

Re: Your Favourite Blue Rodeo MEMBER!!

    Thanks for the help!!

I have met the band 5 times now, and I haven't yet thought to ask them for a pic or drumstick when I am backstage. I don't know why, it does seem like the most logical place.

Wow, that means I will have to get up the nerve to ask them next time. I have issues with this because I am a very shy person. But,I guess I have a bit of time before I need to worry about this again. The band seems to only play here once a year, if that often. So, I may have to wait for their next cd before I get the opportunity to meet them again. I was hoping they would make their way back here sometime during the summer, but so far it doesn't seem like this is going to be the case.

Re: Your Favourite Blue Rodeo MEMBER!!

I've only met the band once, and Baz disappeared, so I didn't get him to sign my poster. But I'll go with Bob. I wasn't expecting to like him. I'd only heard him on an audiance recording and I didn't think his playing was that good. But at the show, he impressed the heck out of me. I noticed that he had a small Mesa Boogie amp just like the one I bought about a month before. After the show he shared tips and tweaks with me for getting better performance out of that amp. I felt like I bonded best with him and Glen. I guess I was a bit in awe of Jim and Greg.

Re: Your Favourite Blue Rodeo MEMBER!!

I'm resurrecting this post because I need help choosing a favourite band member...

I've now somehow managed to meet Greg, Bob and Jim after attending only one and a half shows, and I think I'm torn between the two frontmen.

I was way more tongue-tied around Jim, muchly because two of my friends wanted his autograph (and of course I did too) and I find him, err, quite aesthetically pleasing, which accounts for most of the rest of the verbal awkwardness...

But I prefer Greg's songs. Most of the reason I've only seen 1.5 shows is that I didn't think I could take a Jim-only show, I'm sorry to say.

I'm listening to "Hasn't Hit Me Yet" on permanent repeat, able to rotate CDs because I only own "Just Like A Vacation" and "Five Days in July"...

So pick a guy for me, eh?
