I completely forgot that it's only 17 weeks of games to show. And RAW has been prempted in the past for hockey and baseball games. I'm sure they'd replay RAW at it's usual replay slot of 1am anyway.

    Re: NFL/CFL 2004/2005/2006

Yeah, they'd probably replay it at 1:00 a.m., Rum Geoff - plus sometimes when Raw is pre-empted on Monday nights, TSN's been known to replay it on Tuesday night in prime time as well.

Doesn't make much difference to me - lately I've been watching the replays of Raw anyway, since "24" is on Mondays at 9:00 p.m. Big Grin

    Re: NFL/CFL 2004/2005/2006

Does anybody have any recomended sites on the web to buy sporting tickets off of? I'm going down to Foxboro to see the Pats host the Dolphins on New Years Day. I've come across a few sites and am wondering if anybody might have some useful info. I will try to get tickets when there released on Ticketmaster.com on May 21 but I don't think I have a good shot at getting them. Thanks! Smile

No offense to you wrestling fans but I'm not surprised by this at all.

The NFL (and the major sports in general) has a broad-based appeal that will get high ratings, whereas wrestling while it may get ratings (though I can't say I understand why) has a fairly specific demographic.

I'm not at all surprised either, Derek H. Given the choice between the advertising revenue that a station like TSN would be able to generate with a broad ratings draw like Monday Night Football vs. a more specific demographic that watches WWE Raw, it's pretty much a no-brainer, really.

Well, it looks as though the Argonauts might not be leaving the Skydome after all - turns out they've been offered a sweetheart deal to stay put, rent free. Personally, I'd prefer the smaller, more intimate outdoor stadium, as it's a little more in line with other CFL stadiums. However, the tradeoff if they stay put is that it's a little easier to get to via public transit, plus the whole retractable roof thing is always nice.

Personally, I wouldn't be totally against them staying put, as long as the money generated from ticket sales and stadium revenues doesn't line Ted Rogers' pockets - after all, he doesn't own the team.

I thought the outdoor stadium in Toronto was a done deal ... oh well, I guess when you can get the venue formerly known as Skydome rent free, it's not a bad deal

So did I, ALBrodeo - apparently York University might still go ahead and build the outdoor stadium, but they might need to find a new investor to cough up the $20 million the Argos were going to spend on it, from the sounds of it.

Aaron Rodgers to Green Bay... hmm... great value pick at #24 but I don't know what I think about it. Rodgers is a good QB and I'm excited to have him, but I hate to see them drafting for the post-Favre era when I think a few smart personnel moves on defense could make them a contender yet before the Favre era is done.

Here's hoping the Packers dedicate most of the rest of the draft to fixing what's broken: the defense.

    Re: NFL/CFL 2004/2005/2006

    So much for that.

CB/S project Nick Collins over Justin Miller... and WR Terrence Murphy in the 2nd round?? Sheesh maybe they don't think they need immediate help on defense. Sure could have fooled me.

    Re: NFL/CFL 2004/2005/2006

look on the bright side, Derek ... at least the Packers didn't select Maurice Clarett ... that (dis)honor goes to this off-season's craziest team, the Denver Broncos (if you guys want Cleveland's entire starting defensive line from last year's 4-12 team, go right ahead!)

as for the Browns, while taking Braylon Edwards with the third overall pick gives them a strong, physical and athletic receiver, I refuse to be excited about this pick until he goes through four healthy seasons and gains over 1,000 receiving yards at least once ... that, and he has to prove he can hold on to the football in key situations

    Re: NFL/CFL 2004/2005/2006

So the Packers ended up taking Rodgers? When I left for work, I believe it was around the 20th pick and some of the analysts were saying that if he didn't go top 10, Green Bay might pick him. The Patriots took Fresno State offensive lineman Logan Mankins. I guess he's looked at having a good chance to start this year, in place of the departed Andruzzi. He was picked my most scouts to go in the 3rd round due to a ACL injury in 2003.

    Re: NFL/CFL 2004/2005/2006

    Yeah, Packers got Rodgers.

Which in itself works out great. Always figured that if they were going to draft a 1st round QB to be Favre's heir-apparent, since the team is usually pretty good and drafts later in the round, they were going to be a few QBs deep before they got one. Instead they get a guy who was projected by many to be the top overall player.

The downside is they've now used their 1st round pick this year on a guy who won't help the team until Favre is gone. That's okay, so long as they could secure some contributors in the middle rounds... but so far they've drafted a raw project safety and a wide receiver (good, talented, but unnecessary that early in the draft given Walker, Driver, Ferguson, and Chatman) in the 2nd round and traded their 3rd round pick for two 4th rounders.

That means they have 3 picks in the 4th round tomorrow. They had better do something constructive with them, like filling the holes in the defense. Scott Young might not be a bad pick either as they also have some turnover at guard.

Here's a link to a interesting article about a Packers fan who got in trouble with the law:

Hmmmmm, giving up tickets, that would be a bad punishment for me!!!
