    Gobo:

Geez, not to pick on you two personally, but is that attitude endemic in the good ole USofA?

Now that might explain why the majority of American tourists, who visit our fair city during the plethora of festivals/formula one event, often offer me money (which I always refuse) after explaining how, and sometimes actually helping them, to get to their respective destination. Thought I was just being neighbourly.

As for those skis in June... Yep, I can truly say I've seen someone driving downtown here with skis on a rack in 80+ weather. Hmm maybe the general thought is the Arctic starts abruptly at the 49th parallel?Wink

    Gobo,

This was when I worked in Canada and I was behaving this way to the American tourists, they used to tick me off with how degrading they would be some times. Now granted not everyone was a jerk, but the ones who were were very rude and insulting probably taking advantage of the Canadian hospitality. But many would visit a foreign country and then insult everything that wasn't American and all I'd hear was "in the us they do it this way, or in the us we don't have that" and you're left thinking, well why did you come here?

I once heard a story, maybe I've told it, but it was from Casino Windsor on how an American guest did not want to show his id, he was furious and said they should warn people, the girl in the cage explained to him there was a sign right next to where he was standing, and he said "you expect me to be able to read Canadian" ??? All I can say is that he was lucky I wasn't there, I would have had a great time at his expense.

edt-I guess, after reading the posts above mine, your conclusions would be founded...ha ha ha....even though my actions were in Canada, I was still influenced by my US ties...Big Smile

Okay katie. I see what you mean now and I guess we've all had those weird situational stories to tell.

In defence of the southern folk though, I'd say that I can recall the reverse attitude when I visited Old Quebec city, for nine days many years ago, and the locals were so blatantly treating American Tourists (i.e. their life-blood, in a tourist town) like crap with, IMO, no apparent justification.

The food was way-overpriced and their abject refusal to speak English was sheer business-suicide.

I can only imagine how those folks must have felt after their experience in the G.W.N.

To be or not to be is NOT the question!

Rather, is it your will to be here, or to be elsewhere?

I usually relieve stress by getting shitfaced.  It seems to be my typical Friday night routine.  I don't recommend it... but it's what I do.  Drinking on Friday nights relaxes me after a long work week.  The thing that sucks about that though is that I usually end up feeling so crappy the next day that I only truly get one good weekend day (Sunday).  Ahhhhh well... c'est la vie!

The evils of the bottle, eh? Drinking would be great if it weren't for those damn hangovers. It was great when I was younger and I didn't really get them that bad, or I could justify having a beer for breakfast so I could stop the shakes long enough to drive to work. But that knawing feeling in your gut, and that fog, that headache that just sits in the back of your skull and the raw lungs from smoking 2 packs of smokes in 4 hours...I just can't do it anymore, and it's probably a good thing.

Oh man, I hear ya kaite!  I woke up this morning still feeling half drunk, so I decided to have a beer.  An hour later, I'm on my 3rd one.  I have a feeling that I will go to sleep soon though.

    Back to the thread...

Because it struck me as a remarkably funny question...and when I started to read that you all  quote/ unquote "p;ay piano"....I started to laugh so hard that if I had been sitting on the couch...I would have fallen off...

...I was surfing through the 'repression' trying to get to the end of the posts to ask how there could have been any response besides the one obvious one...

(not that playing piano isn't GREAT...really great...where are you all from anyway...)

...I am just in a funny mood I guess...

    Sorry...

(to relieve stress...often times...when the piano is being used by someone else, of course...and I can't find my bow....I break priceless antiques....)

To win you need to have an edge....a sharp edge...
