Re: Is the board screwed up again?

    OK, Lisa, here's my 'input':

    1) I get the error message for "New since..." at all times of day, both when first entering the site and when trying to update when already on the site. And yes, it does not update properly, if at all. I don't even try to use "Today's..." or "Search..." because they haven't worked in such a long time.

    2) I rarely use the 'Find' function but I have had some problems with it, too, but again, at all times, I think.

    3) I've had problems at these times as well as any time of day. I haven't paid particular attention to the time or whether I could even get on the site or if it was just the error message on "new". But I did notice last night that I could not even get onto the site during this time but then when I tried again after the hour was up, I did get on.

I too have been trying to change my avatar without success (in case this is related to the other problems).

Basically, this whole situation has been very frustrating for me. With the sheer volume of posts lately, it's very difficult and time-consuming to have to go thru every group of threads to find the new ones and those that I'm interested in reading. I can't always use the thread title as a guideline as there's currently many threads that have gotten very off topic! Mad And I'm sure the problems are making it that much harder for the moderators to keep on top of things. If things aren't resolved soon, I'm afraid many people, myself included, will not be visiting very often.

I have to agree with you there Phyl! I think if people want to carry on off topic they should keep it in a PM. Thats just my opinion. Now I'm not saying a little chit chat between people is a problem it just gets to be a problem when it goes on and on for pages and we have lost what the topic was all about.

Re: Is the board screwed up again?

I'm still trying to change my avatar, and it keeps saying "We are unable to process your request at this time. Please try again later", or something to that effect. I've tried at different times throughout the last 2 days and nights, and still no luck. Frown Anyone else having a problem changing their avatar?? Confused

I have the same problems that alot of you have had. I saw the other day there was over 100+ people on the board and that was at 4 am. I didn't think there was that many night owls around.

Re: Is the board screwed up again?

i experience #3 a lot since that's when I get home from work. At first I fly from thread to thread, but then all of a sudden it slows down to a crawl and it takes forever to do anything.

Why can't I change my avatar to a custom one yet?? Mad I've been trying for days with no luck. So many people have custom avatars and I'd like one, too!

Re: Is the board screwed up again?

The 'New since last visit', 'Today's Active Topics', and 'Search Since Yesterday' turn up an error message stating 'Search is currently unavailable'. Users have to go through each forum one by one to see the new posts. When these are 'working' it only turns up sporadic posts and does not carry out the entire function. For those of you that have been experiencing the error message, have you noticed it occuring at a particular time in the day or does it appear to be more randon?

I do not check the board at work so in theory when I check the board after work it should include all posts since the time I left home. There are times when it appears it has provided all but there are many other times when only some of them come up. There is no pattern to this as far as I can tell. The other frustrating thing that happens is if there is more than one page often when I try to go to a second page I will get a message saying "Search Not Available". I have not noticed that this happens at any particular time of day.

The Today’s Active Topics simply does not work. It has not worked for a long time which is unfortunate because it is a great feature for someone like me who doesn’t check during the work day. The message is ‘Search is currently unavailable’.

    2) The 'Find' function is turning up the same error message 'Search is currently unavailable'. Again when this is 'working' it only turns up sporadic posts and does not carry out the entire function.

They have asked if you guys have been experiencing this problem during the 11 PM - 12 AM PST when InfoPop does their server backups or if the problem persists at other times.

I have had problems with the search feature. I have had two problems. The first is the message saying ‘search is not available’ or something similar. I can’t remember the exact wording. The second is that it will provide a search but again it is not complete. I have tested this on a few occasions. You can do the same search and end up with different numbers of results. I have not noticed this to be an 11-12 issue.

    3) 11 PM - 12 AM PST is when InfoPop does their server backups, so things are generally slower at that time. Users are finding it inaccessible during this period. The western users are frustrated as this is at a time they frequently use the Discussion Board. They requested that the backups be done 1:00 or 1:30 AM PST.

For those who try to use the Discussion Board during these hours are you able to login at all? If you are not able to, what kind of error message are you receiving?

If I am on the board at the time it becomes impossible to click on any of the threads. If I try to get on the board it just won’t let me on. Logging in isn't an issue because it is impossible to get on the board. It is not that it slows down it is impossible to get on. The time that this last varies from day to day.

I am really hoping these issues can be resolved because it seems that there are already many regulards who do not visit the board as frequently as they used to. I am quite ‘dedicated’ Big Grin there have been times I just haven’t bothered because of the frustration.

Re: Is the board screwed up again?

OK...this just happened to me...right now!

I was in the original Coronation Crew thread, went back out to the search, clicked on the new Coronation crew...fling thread. It took me to the thread but immediately locked up...I tried to scroll up the page but it wouldn't let me. On top of Joanna's post there was the drop down menu for the options about that member: view public profile, add to buddy list you know, the one you get when you click the members name....well it wouldn't go away, and I couldn't close the page either, it just appeared on its own...I didn't click on her name.
Finally it let me out but then when I went to go back to the search I got the error message.

The 'New Since' didn't work this morning even though there were several new posts since I had checked the board last night.

Re: Is the board screwed up again?

Thanks so much for your feedback everyone and more importantly for hanging in there these past few months! We will pass all of this information along and hopefully they will do something to reconcile these issues asap! HBA, we will also raise the problem with changing the avatar to them as well.

    Thanks again guys!
