We watched Catch and Release with Jennifer Garner, last night on TV...it was Okay, a bit on the weak side BUT it did feature  "Turning Blue"  a Glenn Milchem / The Swallows song.  Wonder how a Hollywood movie ever came across that song?

I went with a friend to "Sweeney Todd - Demon Barber of Fleet Street" the other night.  It was fantastic!  Just to forewarn you, though, it is a musical and sometimes it is hard to understand them because not only are they singing, but they're singing in fairly thick British accents, also it is a bit gory (for those with weak stomachs).  At times Johnny Depp sounded just like Jack Sparrow, other times he was reminiscent of Edward Scissorhands, but it doesn't detract from the movie one bit.

Re: Seen any good movies lately?

I saw Breakfast with Scott a few weeks ago. I really enjoyed it. My sister wanted to see it, she told me what it was about and I thought it might make for a nice night out. I even got a pleasant surprise when I saw that Tom Cavanaugh was in it. He's from Lennoxville, where I lived when I was young, and as I have been reminiscing a lot of late, it was nice to see him on screen.

Anyway, great movie. I highly recommend it!

I thought Juno was an excellent movie.

Bucket List was quite good too. (Bring kleenex though) I didn't know what it was about prior to seeing it except that someone in the movie was supposed to have a list of things they wanted to do before they died.

I loved Juno.  I just saw it yesterday afternoon & even though I went in with really high expectations it was better than I expected it to be.  I would actually like to see it again.

Bucket List is another flick I want to see.  I want to take my Dad to it just because Morgan Freeman is in it and we went to his restaurant in Mississippi.  Believe it or not my Dad had never heard of him before we went to his restaurant.

I went to 'Meet the Spartans' last night.  It was quite funny, better than 'Epic Movie', but it was really short..only about 1hr 10mins.

Gonna have to go and see 10,000 B.C., it looks awesome!

Re: Seen any good movies lately?

I went to see "Vantage Point" on Saturday night with this new fella I've been dating.  We had a great time, but the movie kinda sucked.  It was too "Hollywood" for my taste.

Yesterday, I rented "Across the Universe" finally!!  I LOVED it!!!  If you're a Beatles fan, you HAVE to see it.  I absolutely adore what they did with the Beatles songs... great to hear some new versions of such classics.  Everything about this movie is a masterpiece in my opinion.

Our movie theatre here sucks.  They never get the good movies... so I haven't even seen "Juno" yet and I'm dying to.  They didn't even bring the "best movie" of the year here (No Country for Old Men).  I want to see that one too.

One nominated movie I did see was "Eastern Promises".  It was pretty good!  Viggo Mortisen was excellent in it... and not too hard on the eyes either.  haha!

I agree mthead it was fantastic!!!  I thought it was quite funny in a very "dark" kind of way. Helena Bonham Carter/Mrs. Lovett had some really good lines. I know they were trying to make Johnny Depp look crazed but I have to say he is one sexy whack-job!!Stick out tongueWink

I saw "Im Not There" a few weeks ago.  I thought it was really well done.  Though I doubt non-Dylan fans will be able to enjoy it unfortunately.

Re: Seen any good movies lately?

I recently saw 'Untracable'.  In this movie a computer geek sets up a web site that kills his kidnap victims as more and more people access it online.  It is a disturbing idea on many levels, and I came out of the theatre feeling exactly that way.  The idea that someone would do such a thing is bad enough, but in the film this sick person becomes a sort of cult hero, and people continue to access his 'Kill With Me' web site even after they know they are contributing to the death of the victims shown on the screen.

I had to cover my eyes a lot during the film.  Normally I don't mind a killer/thriller movie, but for some reason this one struck a bit too close to home.  I would not recommend it if you are squeamish and this sort of thing bothers you.

I carry with me the memory of a field I once knew, of a night so full of stars that I was left humbled by it's endless beauty. I know that whatever the cost, life is worth living. So bring it on...I can take it.

Re: Seen any good movies lately?

I went to I Am Legend last night, it was really good!  Will Smith does an excellent job of playing the man who's gone crazy after being alone for 3 years because of a virus that's killed off nearly the entire human race.  The only other 'survivors' of this virus are those who become these vampire-like creatures.  Smith is immune to the virus and is spending his days trying to find the cure.  I highly recommend it, there really isn't much in the way of blood and gore like most vampire movies, so it's not really a horror movie.  Rent it.

Re: Seen any good movies lately?

I saw 10,000 B.C. tonight.  It was good, I'm not going to say awesome or fantastic, but if you're stuck with a choice and aren't sure what to see, it isn't a waste of money to see it.  The only problem I have with it is the historical inaccuracies.  This is supposed to be set around the dawn of mankind, and most of the main characters are based on those first peoples, but then all of a sudden there are the 'bad guys', who live in actual structures and pyramid-like buildings.  I have read a lot of books about prehistoric people and there were no such thing as buildings and such at that time.  Most of the early civilizations that lived in buildings, had farms, built boats, etc, came to be around 5,000 years ago...this movie is supposed to be set around 12,000 years ago.  I just bugs me, is all.

Re: Seen any good movies lately?

I finally saw "No Country for Old Men" on Saturday. I liked it, but I wouldn't say that it was the best movie of the year... but that's just my opinion.  The ending was really weird eh?  Did you guys know that the main actor's hair was done by someone from Dieppe, NB?  I thought that was pretty neat... and what an ugly haircut it was.  haha!

One movie I saw last weekend that I absolutely adored was "Into the Wild".  I highly recommend this one to everyone.  I thought it was going to be boring... figured it'd be just him in Alaska... but they show his entire journey leading up to it.  Really great movie... makes you think...

I also saw "Atonement" the other day.  This one was also nominated for some Oscars... and I thought it was ok... not as good as I thought it would be though.
