    DianeM:
I went to see U2 in 3D last night at the IMAX theatre here in the Old Port of Montreal. WOW! I've never been to a U2 concert, but I'm sure that beats front row tickets!! At one point, when they do the song "Sunday Bloody Sunday", when he goes "wipe your tears away" Bono is so close to you, he can almost touch your face!! The concert was recorded in Argentina and there must have been hundreds of thousands of people there - literally a sea of people! And you're right on stage with them! If anyone has fantasies of knowing what it feels like to be a huge rock star on a stage, that movie will give you an idea of what it's like! And U2's music is so powerful! They play songs from their early days right up to their latest CD with "Vertigo" and "Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own" which Bono wrote for his father. He is one cool dude! I had goosebumps the whole time they did "Pride (In the Name of Love)". If there is an IMAX theatre close to where you live, I highly recommend you go and see this. The New York Times called it "the first IMAX movie you can truly call a work of art"!

Hey Diane!  That sounds amazing!  I've been to the IMAX only once in my life, and loved it.  I can just imagine how cool it would be to see a concert in that setting.  Wow!  Unfortunately, the closest IMAX to me is in Halifax... almost 5 hours away.

I rented a couple of movies tonight... "P.S. I love you" and "Kite Runners".  I'll let you know how they were!

Hey Allison - I wanted to clap and cheer at the end of every song, and felt I had to hold back because I wasn't at the actual concert, but sitting in a movie theatre! LOL! My friends felt the same way. At one point I watched the people around me; everybody was bopping to the music with their 3D glasses on and a smile on their faces. It was sort of funny and cool at the same time!

Re: Seen any good movies lately?

I watched the movie "Rendition" the other night and it gave me nightmares.  It really affected me that much.  In the special features, there was a documentary with real people's stories about how they were tortured (just like in the movie).  It was so horrible.  I feel so terrible for what they went through.  It makes you wonder how they could ever lead a normal life again after that.

As for the other two movies, I rented last weekend... I really enjoyed "Kite Runner"... but I thought "P.S. I Love You" dragged a bit.  It was a nice romantic love story, but not one of my favourites.

I can't wait for May 30th so I can go see the Sex and the City movie.  We're about a dozen of us girlfriends all going together.  We're even going to go for some drinks (cosmos of course) afterwards.

Marnie, if I didn't live so far away from you, I'd go see it with you and I didn't even watch the show! (anything for my best friend! Wink) Allison, I too saw "Rendition" recently, and I can't say it gave me nightmares but it is indeed scary how much power lies in the hands of the government - I thought Reese Witherspoon was amazing in that role. I saw "Prince Caspian" on the weekend - excellent movie, definitely an improvement on the "The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe" - both visually, performance-wise and overall tone. It's alot darker than the first one, and more epic battle scenes...I loved it!

Awww, if that isn't a wonderful friend, I don't know what is!Right Hug  I actually like going to the movies by myself, I can see what I want, sit where I want and I don't have to talk to anyone if I don't want!

I went on Sunday night, I very much enjoyed it.  It kind of bothers me that they're skipping books in the series to suit their own agenda.  The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe is actually book 2 in the Narnia series and Prince Caspian is book 4.  I'll bet if they keep doing movies and decide to do the others, they'll do them as 'prequels' or something stupid like that.

Going to see Indiana Jones on Sunday, I'll be back with my thoughts on it then!

Re: Seen any good movies lately?

Actually Marnie, they are doing the movies in order of publication date...if I'm not mistaken, "Prince Caspian" is book #4 in terms of timeline/chronology of events, however, it was the second book published in the Narnia series...so technically it's ok that it's the second film in the series...just thought I should clarify! I saw Ironman over the weekend with my youngest daughter. I thought it was great escapist entertainment, Downey Jr did a fantastic job, and I've got to get one of those suits! Watched No Country for Old Men last night with my wife and I have to say that I love the Coen Brothers work, but this movie may be the first of their s that I fully understood. I think that is a good thing...great flick, very violent, but great characters.

I just got back from the Sex and the City movie.  It was so good!  I laughed, I cried, it felt like I was catching up with old friends.  It was a fantastic way to wrap up the series.

Hey Marnie!  I also went to see SATC on Friday night with 4 of the teachers from my school.  We went to Boston Pizza for supper... I had a couple of cosmos... and then we headed for the movie theatre.  I was surprised to see so many women all dolled up.  haha!  I guess they must have been going out afterwards or something.  I was also surprised to see quite a few men.  I guess the wives dragged their husbands along.  haha!

The movie was fabulous.  I LOVED it!  The storylines were great... and so was the acting.  I won't go into any details in case people haven't seen it yet....

Re: Seen any good movies lately?

I saw Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull tonight (2 movies in one weekend practically broke the bank, but I had to see them Stick out tongue).  It was quite good, but I did find the story a little weak.  Shia LaBeouf was funny, I heard somewhere that they're going to do 2 more movies in the series with him in the lead role, no Harrison Ford unfortunately.Sad

I also saw the new Indiana Jones movie.  I found it to be pretty good, it is easily on the same level as the other three.  I liked how they brought back Marion.
