Re: Announcing ... Blue Rodeo Concert Trading Network (BR-CTN)
I posted under another thread. I do not have anything to trade but I am looking for a copy of the show from the Greatist Hits tour when it started in Victoria, October 9, 2001. It was simulcast on 100.3 the Q and the internet.

Re: Announcing ... Blue Rodeo Concert Trading Network (BR-CTN)
I don't have a CD burner right now. But I could trade cassettes with/for anyone who would be interested. Also I have a fairly good video bootleg of the Winnipeg Pan Am Games concert.
Can I still join?

Val, you can check out the trading network here, and if you wish, request to be a member then you can post the same info and request on there http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bluerodeotradingnetwork/ALso, it it's something you're interested in, you can get a cd writer for under a hundred bucks, (mine was $49. or 69. can't remember exactly, after rebates from future shop), and if you can install it yourself, that's not too bad! Cheers! Larry

Heck it's worth it to just check out the good pics they're putting on there every few days!

Hi - Thanks for the kind words! The superb photos are courtesy of Graham Grant. Graham's got a great eye for the dramatic shots -- he must know and love the band very much. We have a whole set of his shots from Gananoque on the BR-CTN site. Check 'em out and please join us as we prepare for more shows to be traded. Best, - James

Re: Announcing ... Blue Rodeo Concert Trading Network (BR-CTN)
James...I was hoping you could take some time out to explain something to me. All the people on another of my board seem elitist about this and seem to forget that at one point they were newbies too. I've been an FTP fan for a long time, it's my favourite way to share and receive. But for a long time I've been hearing things about BitTorrent without being able to patch together a basic understanding of what it is and what it does. Does it work like an FTP? Can you download stuff right onto your machine? And why is it a "torrent"...is it not a file-sharing program like any other? What kind of files can you swap, and for that matter, is it a swapping process you actually do? ___________________________ "Guys like me?! I'm a guy like me!" [Homer]If not here, where do we belong? Re: Announcing ... Blue Rodeo Concert Trading Network (BR-CTN)
I am trying to start a Blue Rodeo torrent tracker called BlueTunesTorrents. If anybody knows about or has ever worked with a tracker, PLEASE E-MAIL ME AT armchair_aesthete@*NOSPAM*canada.com
I'm having a hard time but a lot of people will be happy if I can get it working, so I want all the help I can get!
For those who don't use them, torrents are an awesome way to share concert material and just about anything else as a whole community...you don't have to mail anything, and you get to listen to things before you burn them so you know what you're getting. I would love to get one off the ground, but it's hard.

Re: Announcing ... Blue Rodeo Concert Trading Network (BR-CTN)
Donna's point is the reason I put the site on the back burner. There's no point in me wasting my time working on the site, if people are not willing to co-operate and share their live recordings. It's only a band folks and what people have are simply live concerts...nothing else, it's not a big deal, so I don't know why people are so reluctant to share their live shows??? However, I'm not going to waste my time trying to figure it out either. Cheers!

Re: Announcing ... Blue Rodeo Concert Trading Network (BR-CTN)
That's unfortunate...way back when it first started I got two shows and sent them to several other people, but this is why I'm hoping to start a torrent tracker. It is literally EFFORTLESS to share shows - you just package it into a torrent!
No mailing, no hassle. Like I said, if anybody knows their way around torrents, and more specifically, trackers...help me out??

Re: Announcing ... Blue Rodeo Concert Trading Network (BR-CTN)
I never got the impression that people on this trading Network were reluctant to share. I got some great music from that site But then the same stuff came up again and again to be shared. And sometimes when I got a concert and it was my turn to re-offer, often I received no requests. I thought it died down more because it was a small group and people ran out of stuff to share. So Shopaholic, please do not think it was a waste of your time. I love the music I received. Thanks so much for all the work you put in it.
