The essential difference between theory and practice: theory is when nothing works, but you know exactly why; practice is when everything works but you haven't got a clue why. Smile

    That's what I figured too.

Well, I offered up 10 different shows on that site. The most responses I ever received was 8 and only 4 of those people ever sent their discs (I usually did B&P's because a lot of people didn't have anything to trade). I often had to email people twice to see if they were still interested in the show! But when it came to turn around and re-offer them to others, I found that a lot of people didn't reciprocate. I ended up getting more shows trading with people on etree.

And Diane, I was under the impression that you have a large number of shows. Would be nice to see some of them circulated.

I had also joined the trading network, but I was hesitant to participate because I had nothing to offer... Frown

Yeah, Dianne... It would be nice to see all those shows in circulation... Hmmmm... Who should you send copies to first (at your time and expense, of course)? I know! How about to all the people who criticize you for going to so many shows?

Seriously... Dianne's not the only board member who has lots of shows recorded and I do know for a fact that she's been more than willing to share... I also know that most of the recordings she has are still on an MP3 player and haven't been uploaded to the computer Smile

I've seen postings from individuals criticizing others for not sharing and they're guilty of the same practices... I've received e-mails with requests for photos and other things, and when I e-mailed the person back (with the requested photos attached, I might add!) to ask if I could get some photos that were taken of some friends and I at one of the shows, my e-mail was completely ignored. Never even got a "thank-you" for the photos or music I sent. Confused

I could see why people would get tired of sharing with those who have that "gimme-gimme-gimme" attitude... The ones who grab anything they can get their hands on, yet have no interest in reciprocating...

    Just my

WONDERFUL....I've already got a volunteer....when would you like to start Lori? laugh

I don't know if anything would get done though. Confused We both like to laugh and have a good time! Big Grin I need someone who has a serious side to them. Any volunteers?

Oh yes, phoney, two-faced people need not apply! I might add that I'm a very good judge of character..years of experience and I have learned from past experiences with some of the people on this site! All applicants will be carefully screened.

Re: Announcing ... Blue Rodeo Concert Trading Network (BR-CTN)

I had problems with people not standing up to their part of the bargain. Frown This one guy promised to send me some Grateful Dead for some BR, I sent him some BR and it's been a year and a half and I've yet to receive anything from him. Mad After several reminder emails you just can't be bothered anymore ya know and then you lose interest in the whole thing. Roll Eyes

I haven't used the trading network in a long time but I do offer what I have to others privately and I expect nothing in return. Smile

Well, if you're ever desperate and decide to reconsider the "no phoney two-faced people" policy, let me know.

Oh and by the way...I have three BR shows. I think they're all either soundboard or FM. If anybody wants a B&P I'd be happy to do it. If anybody at all is interested, let me know!

ell I was fortunate enough to have two folks offer to do a B&P for me. Now does that mean I should have offered to do the same for others with a "next generation" copy.??? I'm kinda new to the B&P circuit????

Lori, that’s where B&P’s (blanks & postage) come in. You send the person who offered the show(s) the required number of discs (without the jewel cases since it costs more to mail plus the cases tend to get cracked and/or broken) plus a self addressed stamped padded envelope. Then all they have to do is copy the discs and pop them in the mailbox. If you live in different countries, just send the equivalent in cash for what it would cost to mail back to you.

Umm, I never said anything about “all” those shows – just a couple would be nice!! And I fully admit that I have no idea how much time it takes or what is involved in converting shows to WAV or FLAC format.

I probably shouldn’t have singled Dianne out, so I apologize for that, but I don’t know anyone else who has a large collection of recorded shows, and I was just replying to her post.

I have asked Hipfan to help me with some of my recorded material. The next time I'm down his way, he graciously said that he would.
That’s awesome, great of the two of you to make the time and effort! Thank you!

Jane, sorry you got ripped off. Has happened to me a few times as well. Once with a 12-disc trade (for Clapton not Blue Rodeo).

At no point in my post did I criticize anyone for their way of living so I’m not sure where those comments are coming from?! question

And I hope I didn't get in the middle of something - I thought the comments I referred to were in humour, by both parties? Hope so....
