Hmmm John or Travis, I'm not sure? Maybe we can get a group together, do the dinner and show thing. John has Cleve, but the Sadies put on an awesome show as well. Horns of a dilemma.

You guys are so lucky to have all these great options to choose from! If I lived in Toronto, the Horseshoe is where I'd be on NYE! Smile Bringing in the new year with the Sadies rocks!

Instead though, I'm planning a little house party at the clubhouse. We have a pool table there now and one of the borders is having a party and has invited 4 guitar players over! Big Grin It should be a pretty good time.

Re: New Years Eve once again

Yes, we are going to the show in Calgary as well although hubby does not know it yet !! My only concern is that I just hate the thought of lining up at the door for the "rush" for a table and also "where" to sit. I think the dance floor should be at the back of the room so that we can easily see the band from all the tables. VBG. I actually phoned the Telus Center to mention that and, well, er, the response was lukewarm. LOL. I forgot to ask what time the doors open. I still think that they should feed us for that price. I don't think that we will have time for dinner first. Any suggestions what table would be best for viewing the band "over the dancers" ???? I hope that there will be round tables and not those long rectanglar impersonal ones. Hubby and I are going alone. Have fun there. Can't wait.

Its my understanding that the doors open at 8pm and there will be late night snacks served, I heard Nochos and Beef on a bun.

As far as the best seats to see pass the dancers I can't answer you that, I tend to get up there and dance for the whole show, you should try it its lots of fun!! rounder

Re: New Years Eve once again

    Hi everyone,

I'll be up and dancing too. Great exercise and great way to see the band as long as you find a place near to the stage. I didn't dance to their music at the Folk Fest but my feet sure wanted to. I've been up and dancing close to the stage for Doug and the Slugs, Corb Lund and Ellis Hooks and got to meet the band afterward in all three cases.

Little weather report for all you coming to Calgary. Yes, it's a brown Christmas but the weather is supposed to get colder toward NYE. One station has said cold and snow Sun-Tues while another one says it's only going to be cold. Considering we haven't been below zero as a daytime high for nearly two or more weeks, anything below -10 as a high is going to be a shock. So you may need to pack some warm clothes if we're standing in line outside.

As it's nearly the 24th, Happy Holidays to all from the Kat. Look forward to seeing all on NYE for Blue Rodeo.

Well Schwa_Girl and I have decided to go to the Cadillac to see John Borra. A number of factors sparked this decision, there is seating, food can be purchased, inexpensive, and most important of all John Borra and Cleve Anderson. It was a tough choice as we have been to the Sadies NYE show a few times and they were great, however we have only seen John once and although it's not BR it is Cleve.

It will be a quiet New Year's Eve for hubby Joe & I. Probably try to spend it with a few friends. Joe is on call, so if the lights go out, he'll be at work, therefore no drinking of alcoholic beveridges for him!!! Poor guy!!!

Donna and I opted for John Borra too! i've seen the Sadies many a New Year's. It was time for a change. Went to the Cadillac today and got our tickets. I'll call ya from Donna's tomorrow and we can find a way to meet up with ya's... if you don't want to be alone that is. Wink actually, Adele might need the company once you get admiring Mr. Anderson Razz

Well I am off to the airport shortly to head to Calgary so I will wish all my BR friends Happy New Year a day early. I hope you all have a fantastic time whether you curl up on the couch and read a book or head out for a wild and crazy night. Enjoy and all the best for 2004.

Re: New Years Eve once again

I'm really looking forward to tomorrow night. The guy who is renting a room at the clubhouse has arranged for a full band to play apparently - with stand up bass, violin and mandolin and everything! It should be fun! I wish I had a video camera or something.

Hope you guys have fun with Blue Rodeo in Calgary and I hope the rest of you in other parts of the world also have a great night! Smile
