    Shooter Jennings

Has anyone had the chance to hear the new material from Shooter Jennings? I liked Put the "O" Back in Country so I'm glad to hear about new material. My boss at umg handed me a sampler with two tracks from his new album Electric Rodeo. Great stuff from what I heard so far. If anyone already bought the album, please let me know how you like it.

I know Debbie (and Allison)!! Red Face Just call me Procrastinating Bluegirl! Roll Eyes

I PROMISE to get those CD's out this weekend! PROMISE!! angel Thank God for my patient BR Buds!! I was just waiting for his new album to be released so I could send you two CD's instead one one!! Wink

I've always liked Waylon Jennings' music, but really got into him when I started going out with Farmer Dan. Now, we own just about every album he's ever made (trust me, there are lots!) and many DVD's too!

I first heard Shooter (and his former band, Stargunn) when he did a cover of "I've Always Been Crazy" on a tribute album for his Dad called "I've Always Been Crazy" - Great album with great performances by John Mellencamp, Travis Tritt, Ben Harper, James Hetfield from Metallica and many other great artists!! I loved Shooter's voice and style from the second I heard him.

When we found out that he'd gone solo and had released his first album, we ran out and bought it! We played it as soon as we left the store and just loved it! I still listen to it often! His new CD, "Electric Rodeo" was released just a few days ago, and we'll be getting that one too! I've read some great reviews and if it's anything like his first CD, it'll be great!!

It's great to see that more people are getting into this guy's music! Big Grin

He played a free show at the Horseshoe Tavern back in the fall, but unfortunately, it was on a Tuesday evening and we live 4+ hours away. I keep checking his website Shooter Jennings for tour dates, but so far, nothing even close to here! I might consider going to see him in Buffalo... The only Canadian date so far is in Camrose, which sounds like an awesome show! I do know that he's also supposed to be touring with Dierks Bentley...

    8/4/2006 : Big Valley Jamboree

    WITH: Festival billing
    LOCATION: Camrose, Alberta

NOTES: Shooter plays the main stage with Montgomerey Gentry.

Just picked up "Electric Rodeo" last night. It's definitely harder and edgier than Shooter's first album. Dan loves it already, but I think I'm going to have to give it a few more listens!

Debbie and Alli, I'll send you copies of both!

Well where are you from, westcoast_roadeo? How did you happen to find this particular board? Are you a Blue Rodeo fan or just one of Shooter's people trying to get a feel for how his CD's are doing? Wink

Hey Lori, I was just buggin ya, I should do the right thing and go out and buy the dam CD myself! I don't mind burning a song or two of a new artist to see if I like it, and thereafter I think its best to buy it.. SO... long story long, if you haven't put it in the mail yet, don't. I have to go to the Body Shop tomorrow and HMV is right next door, so if they have it, I'll get it. Thanks anyway sweety, I'm just glad you introduced me to his tunes! I'll let you know if I do need you however.

Seeeeeeeeeee Debbie? Not ALL men will disappoint you!! laugh I'm glad you're enjoying the tunes! Shooter's awesome, isn't he? You'll have to let me know what your faves are!! I love his sense of humor... Two of my favorites off his new album are "Aviators" (a break-up song) and "The Song is Still Slipping Away" (One of the lines goes like this "Your heroes turn out to be *ssholes/the light you're chasing at the end of the tunnel is a train..." LOL!)

    Anyway, glad you like it!!

Oh, and you should start a thread about your blind date experience! I'm sure many of us could contribute a few stories! Roll Eyes

    Re: Shooter Jennings

Hahaha... sorry Lori, didn't mean to give the wrong impression of the date... truth is, it WAS a disappointment! ( Thats what I meant by the relief of the CD - I needed a good thing after the date gone bad, lol!) Long story short, the picture I saw of him, he said was taken a year ago... try 20 years ago!! Roll Eyes Why would someone do that with the intention of a possible meet?? Beyond me.. but never again! I'll stick to the good ol' fashion way of meeting guys from now on! laugh

Back to the subject.. I haven't had the chance to listen to the entire CD, ( listening now ) I have the last few songs to hear...so I'll let you know which ones are my favs... so hard to say though.. they're ALL freekin awesome!! thumbup

Sorry to hear your date didn't go well Debbie! Frown

Lori, my dad and I listened to one of the cd's on Friday night and LOVED it! My dad was saying he found his style reminded him of country Kid Rock. He's got a great sound. thumbup Thanks again for sending these cd's! Big Grin

    Re: Shooter Jennings

Glad you and AliDada enjoyed it!! Actually, Dan and I said the very same thing when we first listened to "Put to O Back in Country" - that he sounded like Kid Rock. I was never really a big fan of Kid Rock's music until I heard his "country" songs! Now I love him! We went to see him at Bluesfest last year, and for those of you who think he's just some rapper from Detroit - don't be fooled! He is very, very talented (played every single instrument on the stage that night!!) and his voice... Ahhhhh! loud The pole-dancing strippers on stage I could do without, but hey... that's just me! laugh

Oh and Dan said "Her father likes Kid Rock?!?" Eek I think he really wants to meet him now! LOL!

    Re: Shooter Jennings

Hahaha! Yes, my father likes Kid Rock. Shocking isn't it? Razz But like you said, he's not just a rapper... his country flavoured songs are quite good, if you ask me! I regret not seeing him at Bluesfest last summer. One of my students got her photo taken with Kid Rock this past weekend. I guess he was at the Monster Truck show at the Moncton Coliseum. Frig, I wish I had known about that!! laugh Lucky student!!
