    Re: Internet Fantasy Football

Congrats on your championship victory Derek/Three Lakes Thunder! And of course honourable mention to Mark and his Maine Argonauts. It was a fun year and a good time. I'll notify everybody when the league is re-opened for next year. Any suggestions, comments are appreciated!

    Re: Internet Fantasy Football

Congratulations to everyone else on a great fantasy season. The league was definitely tough competition (with the exception of our couple deadbeat teams). Maine was a tough opponent for the final, I wasn't going in expecting a win.

I'll be the first to admit that I had a lot of luck go into winning this. My team didn't leave much doubt in the championship, but it wouldn't have even been that far if not for a couple crazy plays on Monday Night Football the two previous weeks.

As for comments or suggestions, I think maybe another bench spot or two, given the huge active roster, might not be a bad idea. Also, though it ended up helping my team (thank you Tatum Bell!), Week 17 is always full of teams sitting guys down to rest before the playoffs, it's maybe worth looking into to have the championship in Week 16 instead. But overall, it was a really fun setup... definitely unlike any other league I've played in, but an interesting challenge.

Speaking of interesting challenges, I run an AFL fantasy league online (not on Sandbox or any of the formal sites, just on my own) every year. I probably have a full league already with previous players, but I've done two before and it's not much more work to run two leagues than it is to do one. If anyone is interested, let me know. Otherwise Sandbox offers a free Salary Cap league... but to do an actual draft-type league on Sandbox you have to pay, which is why I run the league myself instead.

    Re: Internet Fantasy Football

The extra bench spot is something that will definitly happen for sure. I realized it should of been there after it was too late to change. I thought about the week 16 championship thing when I saw 3 of my players sitting on the bench 15 feet away from me on sunday for 3 quarters!

It was a fun league to play in. This was my first year of doing the fantasy football and was in a few other leagues on other sites (FOX, ESPN) and they weren't that fun, small rosters, just the defensive teams, etc

    Re: Internet Fantasy Football

Unforutnately I didn't have anywhere near enough for a 2nd league.

But Geoff or anyone else interested, if you want to play in the Sandbox salary cap league we have set up, we don't compete too intensely in it since it's not our primary league, but it's free and not too bad.

It's on sandbox.com and the league number is 167, password Railroader.

I ended up joining one of the free leagues, what can I say, I can be a "el cheapo" sometimes! Guess I used to not having to pay for fantasy sports.

6 spots have been filled up, 6 left, if anybody is thinking of signing up/returning, times running out.

The league is now full and I will be changing the status of the league to "draft ready" after this post. Best of luck everybody!

    Re: Internet Fantasy Football

Looks like the draft happened last night, I just came from fixing my team, (or as I call it, re-hauling what crap Yahoo gave you, I did get Brady, so that's good!). There's a pretty deep FA pool for defensive players, offence is ok.

    Re: Internet Fantasy Football

Not to complain too much but that was way too early. It hadn't even occurred to me to think about getting ready for a draft yet.

    Re: Internet Fantasy Football

I've always liked to have the draft as soon as the league is full, especially since Yahoo seems to not properly divide the talent up (pre-draft rankings or not) and that way, there's time to sign FA's, make trades.

    Re: Internet Fantasy Football

But this is a little ridiculously early, don't you think? PREseason doesn't even start for almost a month. I don't think lack of time to make adjustments was going to be a problem. Just would have been nice to have had a little forewarning, I'm sure I'm not the only one who was surprised by such an early draft.

    Re: Internet Fantasy Football

I did mention in a post on June 11th, that once the league is full, the draft (of drsft as I mis-spelt it) would be held. Due to a lack of interest here on the board, I added the league to the lists of public leagues to join. A post was made here and on the board on the league site notifying of the impending draft. If it is an issue, then for future drafts I will send out a group e-mail. I'm in 2 other leagues so far and the drafts were held long before this one.

    Cheers!

    Re: Internet Fantasy Football

You gave one day's notice after the league filled, on the 4th of July no less. I was out of town for the holiday and had no internet access. Last year something similar was said about trying to draft when the league was full, but the draft wasn't until July 31, which is almost a little early in itself but at least it's a reasonable date where camp is underway and the season is soon approaching at that point.

I'm not trying to cause problems here, it's just a game and it's fun to win but if I don't, I don't. But I don't know what the other leagues you are in are thinking of because I play multiple leagues every year and I've never heard of a league drafting so soon.
