"Draggin On" an overlooked #1 smash hit!
I can't believe "Draggin' On" didn't shoot straight up the charts with a bullet when Tremolo came out all those years ago!
I was just listening to Tremolo on my way into work this morning and couldn't resist hitting the repeat on Draggin On several times. I think this album is probably BR's most underrated. Some terrific work there.
Anyone else got a sure-fire #1 BR radio hit that never happened?

Draggin On is one of my all time favourite BR songs. I don't think it was ever released as a singe, unfortunately.

I agree that this is a great song and I often overlooked it - until I learned to play it on guitar!!!! Definitely a cool cool one. "Putting all my time in learning to care, And a bucket of rhymes I threw up somewhere." http://community.webshots.com/user/1216oldalbanypost

Well Stew I can't really answer that since I think I've only heard two BR songs on the radio down here in the states, but if I had to take a guess, I would say Rain Down on Me, Til I Gain Control Again and The Seeker. Re: "Draggin On" an overlooked #1 smash hit!
I like "Draggin' On" a lot too. I like the way the music swells when Jim sings "When it's cold out, you don't want to be the one..." And I really like the way it ends.
As for the one that should've made it to the radio... "Cinema Song". I love that song!!
Note to NYC: "Til I Gain Control Again" is a Rodney Crowell song (hope I got the name right - he was married to Roseanne Cash for a while). Jim does a very good job on the cover.

Thanks GG - I did knoew that, but didn't know that he was married to Roseanne Cash. I love her new album and also have a copy of The Wheel. Furthermore I got to see her perform live in Central Park in the late 80s and Lucinda Williams opened for her!!! I loved Dragging On from the moment I heard it - way better than It Could Happen To You, imo. "And we've sang all these old songs deep into the night"

Re: "Draggin On" an overlooked #1 smash hit!
it seems every cd has one or two songs that should have put them over the top. i guess on palace of gold, it would be homeward bound angel for me. the way greg smokes near the end gets me out of my seat every time i hear it.
there's a thousand shining moments waiting just to happen to you!

Re: "Draggin On" an overlooked #1 smash hit!
You know what, guys? Maybe for their next album, they should throw a "survey/party" and let the fans pick 2 new songs to be release as singles. We always seem to prefer songs other than the ones they choose. Who does the picking anyway? The boys or some executive...?

Dragging On is my absolute favorite BR song. I can play it all day long on repeat and never get sick of it.

Re: "Draggin On" an overlooked #1 smash hit!
Good question Rowan! I always imagined a group of marketing types in suits from the record company sitting down at a boardroom table, listening to the first minute or so of each song on the CD and picking the first single...
I wonder how it actually happens? And how much input the band has (if any)...
P.S. Good ideas all. I would have loved to see a video for the Seeker and, in the same vein, Moon and Tree.
