    PRESALES

You think it is unfair to have two shows go on presale at the same time?

    Re: PRESALES

I don't think it is unfair. In the end it comes down to luck. I am very sorry for the people who didn't get tickets but that happens all the time with ticketmaster. It's always disappointing when you don't get tickets. For me I am just very grateful that BR.COM continues to make an effort to do pre-sales for their fans. Thank you BR.COM.

Greg Keelor met Jim Cuddy and then I met you people. Serendipity is a marvellous thing.

    Re: PRESALES

I am with you Hazy...if you were LUCKY enough to get presale tix...good for you, if not sorry you didn't. The fact of the matter is that some people are way more computer literate than others and do know shortcuts to fill out forms on line. I am not one of those people so I am fortunate that someone else was able to get tix for me for both nights.
Standing Ovation and Blue Rodeo.com dont have to do this for us but they do and we should be grateful to be given the opportunity to purchase early.
As has been said repeatedly...there are no bad seats at Stratford.
Leave the lonely days, close your eyes let 'em drift away....

    Re: PRESALES

It is only fair to those people that had two people buying for the different shows. Other than that, You speak of ticketmaster. May I point out that Ticketmaster does not put tickets on sale for two shows on the same day at the same venue it is split up at least here in Ottawa they don't. This set up has nothing to do with luck. If the chance was the same for everyone on both shows then you are right. Then it is fair game and only then does luck enter into it. But to have two go on at the same time explain to everyone here how that is fair. What It comes down too, is you are going to get one or the other but not both. One person CANNOT type that fast and there is too much info to be added on the forms to complete two transactions in the same tine especially when you X number of people all trying at the same time. I agree there i sno bad seats at this venue, but it is always nice to be as close as you can and no one can deny they would prefer the better seating.

Put it this way if today they had the pre-sale for the Friday show and it sold out in five minutes well then that is the luck of the draw to whom gets in and who doesn't considering there is only a limited amount available. Then let's say they put the Saturday show on for tomorrow at 12:30 well guess what everyone has an equal shot at both dates. Why do you think that the theatre is NOT having both go on sale at the same time on the same date? They are spread apart on two different days in fact a week apart. My guess is that they can't handle the number of requests and neither can their phone lines not to mention it opens the doors to fairness for everyone. Now can you imagine if the Stratford Theatre did the same thing on Saturday that was done here today there would be Kaos. Why? Because not everyone would be able to get tickets and worse yet what about all the people from far and beyond like BC that already has their plane tickets reserved. I will bet that these people would be quite upset and their feeling of what is fair and what is not would drastically change.

I am quite thankful that BR.Com does what they do for the fans on here as well. However, then again it is not necessarily for the people that are just on this board or members of this community entirely. Any member of the general public could have come on here today and got in on the pre-sale. Last year it was suggested that they have a special code or some way that the online members of this board get first crack at the pre-sale, but kind of like a perk for being a member on this board. I mean even American Express has their front of the line deal as well as other pre-sale ideas, from other artists. Anyhow I am not always right and this is just my opinion of this whole thing and my response to what has been said here today.

    Re: PRESALES

Doesn't bother me them putting both shows on at the same time. There was a point in my life where it would have stressed me out but thankfully I outgrew that one! They probably put both up at the same time to make it fair so more people could get in on the sale. If they did both shows separately then the same people may be getting the early tickets. This way it's spread out a little more.. in my opinion. I know I only got the presale for 1 show last year. I was in near the top of the main level the first night and the sound and view were great. But i do understand, we all love to be near the front. I know I do for the pictures. Without a camera, doesn't bother me. I"m starting to like the soundboard location lately.

    Re: PRESALES

Us people in BC knew we were taking a chance by getting our plane tickets booked before concert tickets came out. All situations were discussed, we were going to Stratford weather we ended up with tickets or not. We knew we had two shots at it if we didn't get presale we would try for general sale. Didn't bother us either way.

Steve I respect what you are saying but sometimes we just have to go with what we get and we can't blame BR.com I can see what Dayna is saying, if they spread the presale out over two days then ya the faster people would get the best of both shows. This way, you almost have to choose what show you want and go for it. Therefore giving more people a chance at the presale for one show or the other. (get what I am saying there)

Yes we were at an advantage cause we had more then one person buying tickets and I am sure alot of people had others buying tickets for them, knowing from past experience thats what you have to do. We saw what went on last year and how fast those tickets were gone. This presale isn't a matter of just buying tickets, its STRATegy Big Grin

    Re: PRESALES

I guess it's the luck of the draw, eh? As I said in the other thread, what bothered me was the one particular person who only joined the board a few weeks ago, has only posted on the Stratford thread, and was royally p*ssed and indignant at not having been able to get tix today. Hey, there's no rule against non-members taking advantage of the pre-sales, but I still stand by my comment that the DIE-HARDS should have first crack at the best seats. That was the point I was trying to make...

Steve, maybe we need to get you a "Mavis Beacon" typing tutorial! Razz Wink

    Re: PRESALES

I'm blue...missed out on the presale. In fairness to others BR fans, there are many who don't/cannot visit as often as we would like. I am a diehard, just one that's been going through a lot and not had time to visit the board. I am pissed to...but only at myself Frown. Oh well....for those who missed out, don't despair! Remember, this was only the presale...still lots of tickets left!

    Re: PRESALES

I don't think 2 seperate sales times would change the outcome that much. I do however think that limiting tickets to 3 per person would greatly change the outcome of the presale. As mentioned in the other thread, originally I thought 2, but as someone pointed out, what if there were 3 of you going? Once you get to 4, then you have to split into 2 groups of 2. A tighter limit on tickets would go a long to allowing more people in on the grab!!

And as for your comment that it's impossible to get presales for both nights. NOT TRUE. I have them this year, and I had them last year - BOTH NIGHTS. No auto dialers, no cheating programs, just good ole fashioned fast typing!! Last year I did it from home on dial up, this year, fearing the big response, I went to an internet cafe to ensure I had high speed access. Glad I did - unfortunately where I live, high speed isn't available! You see - it is possible - and it is luck of the draw!

I agree Duffeys, it is luck of the draw. I have gotten pre-sale tix for both nights for 3 years now. This year I was lucky enough to get pre-sale for both nights, I did it on my own and I have dial-up, no high-speed where I live either.

    Re: PRESALES

Me too! Plus lunchtime at work is often slow on the Internet.
I feel this is like a radio contest: you dial and may get the "busy" signal, then you re-dial until your fingers bleed. If you're very lucky, you may get the line but not be the caller they want (you're the 35th caller but the winner will be the 50th... Wink )

It will be my first time in Stratford and, after all
these years hearing how wonderful it is, I just
feel lucky I made it through. Smile

    Re: PRESALES

Great analogy Lyne...thats exactly what I meant when I said LUCKY... Like the radio contest its all about who has the fastest fingers, not necessarily the fastest connection as we have been shown by Duffeys and Bluebird!

Well now I don't get this. I was the first to reply to your thread with support for your cause and now it's not even on the thread. Go figure.

I know it was there because I even checked to make sure that it had no mistakes.

Anyway, for the record, I voted on you poll Plateman and see your point. Cool
To be or not to be is NOT the question!

Rather, is it your will to be here, or to be elsewhere?
