    Re: PRESALES

I could be wrong, but I don't think the band holds are usually the closest seats. A couple of years ago, I saw Jim's family in about the 10th or 12th row at one of the Massey Hall shows.

I know that at one venue that I was at, they were closer than that. But maybe that's not the norm. Thanx, Donna. Smile

    Re: PRESALES

Sorry, I should clarify my statement. I didn't mean that Jim's family was closer than that (I wouldn't really recognize them, either), I meant that what I knew to be the band hold seats were closer than row 10 or 12. Smile

    Re: PRESALES

I think that it is unfair for any business to be able to buy up most of the best seat sections of a venue. I don't have an AMEX card and I refuse to get one. I will not attend shows at venues that require you use a specific credit card! The idea ticks me off no end! Mad

    Re: PRESALES

Funny you should complain about Amex, Carol. I got my Amex card specifically for online purchases, intending to save my Visa for offline shopping only. I also wanted a really low credit limit so that if something did go wrong, very few charges could be racked up on my card without my noticing. Well, not every online merchant takes Amex! BR.com doesn't, so whenever I buy anything from here, I have to use my Visa. Frown I'm not very happy about that.

    Re: PRESALES

Bottom line here is the whole way presales are handled are for the most part unfair and not just here either it happens with every presale going on right from Amex to radio stations etc.

They should go back to the old days of where you had to line up for tickets. There was alot less bitching and back then you didn't here about things being slow and this and that. When technology stepped in ticket sales took a back seat. All the fees and extra charges are a load of crap. In days of old you stood in line you got your tickets and that was that. If you got 5 row in the nosebleeds you were happy with that because there was always the chance you couldn't get any tickets. And if a ticket was $12.50 that is what you paid not $12.50 + $8.00 for fees. Kinda like why in this country do they not sell everything like they do gasoline? You pay one price taxes included and that is the way everything sold should be it would make things alot easier. IMHO anyways.

One other thing if a person can make money selling tickets at a higher price good for them. Hell most bands & the promoters these days are just that anyhow, scalpers. So why do people complain about the scalpers charging $500.00 for a good ticket when the band in the first place is charging $300.00. Who the hell can afford that these days. The rich is who. I sure can't. I think that all this entertainment buisness is all about the mighty $$ and for most of the bands around today the big name ones anyhow don't care about the people that can't go there is alot of shows that I would have love to have seen but why would I want to take my mortgage payment to go see a hour and a half concert. I just can't afford it like alot of us I am sure, to go and see the big concert draw.

For example The Corrs were suppose to play here in Ottawa. Heather got us tickets and we were both really excited about going. But they cancelled here and other Canadian dates because of poor ticket sales. Hmmmmmmmmmm I doubt very much if that had anything to do with their price? Close to $100.00 and that was at the NAC. They would rather cancel a show than play for the 1000 people that did pay to see them. Nope they wanted a sell out crowd. Needless to say I didn't think much of that. It happens all the time as well.

Anyhow, The whole ticket process and the way they are distrubuted and what people charge for tickets needs to change. It has got out of hand.

I am quite thankful that BR are not a bunch of greedy people. Can you imagine paying $300.00 to see them? I wouldn't pay it.

    Re: PRESALES

I also remember in the old days, the best seats were taken up by radio stations and promotors...at least now with presale for fan club members we stand a chance at getting good seats!

I never ever got good seats lineing up for tickets. The only time I got good seats was through BR.com presales...so thank you so much Blue Rodeo.

    Re: PRESALES

Joanne, that is sooooo true. I would stay in line and get those wrist bands and then I would still have crappy seats. I would go on the phone and try to get through to ticketmaster and would never ever get tickets. If I ever did get through, those tickets were crappy as well.

The Hamilton show I had front row tickets. That was the first time in my life that has ever happened to me. Believe me, I was on cloud 9 and anybody that was there can vouch for me there Big Grin

    Re: PRESALES

I had given up on pre-sales since my Massey Hall pre-sale experience a couple of years ago (the tickets went really fast!!). And I don't usually participate in the Molson Amp pre-sales as I don't like sitting on the floor (I find those seats too uncomfortable). Now I'm kicking myself because this year's pre-sale for the Molson Amp show on Aug. 26 gave the buyer a choice. You could either select to buy for floor and front rows, OR select to buy for level 200, starting at N. Well, I would've bought those! The level 200 N, I mean. I found this out AFTER I had bought my tickets through TicketMaster, I got level 201, row V V. So my lesson for next year is check first!!

I did also want to comment on the vast number of tickets available through pre-sale this year for Molson Amp, compared to last year. Because of the number of tickets available, th pre-sale lasted for 3 days, instead of the usual 5 minutes! Maybe it's because our comments have been listened to (we always talk about the dearth of tickets to be had), or maybe it's because of some other reason, but I would like to thank whoever made all those tickets available through pre-sale. Like I said, next year, I will check pre-sale availability first!!

Actually, I don't think you could be more wrong. From where I sit, this is THE FAIREST place I have ever seen in terms of ticket pre sales. No special treatment for anyone - we all have the exact same shot at the front row. I have to echo JAM's comments - only here on the BR sight can a regular person end up with front row tickets to see thier favourate band! What could possibly be more fair than that? The only thing I would like to see with presales is a lower ticket limit.

Keep up the great presale work BR.com - and thanks for all my great seats over the years - I appreciate them (especially the front row ones!)!

    Re: PRESALES

Duffey you make an interesting point. The ticket limit should be less that 8. I think then it would make it more fair for other fans to be able to be included in the pre-sale. Maybe a fair limit would be 4 for this event.
