Howlin', I'm with you all the way. I too am a bootleg collector for a few bands. The quality of those recordings is so variable that you never know what you're going to get.
In my opinion, it is the live recordings that truly cement the relationship between band and fans. Some bands are perfectionists that don't want anything that is less than perfect to get out. In fact, it's the miscues and other fun moments that happen in a show that can make boots so good.
And as you said, some shows just cook, or there is something unusual played.
For example, I understand that the recent Montreal shows were incredible, and the crowd was completely wired. In addition, they played Knockin' On Heaven's Door. I would buy that one in a second, plus the 2 shows that I've been to this year, plus any other one that was considered great. Every show is unique and special in its own way.
In my opinion, they should record every show, and make them available. This puts the bootleggers out of business, and gives the band a chance to make some money. It's a win-win situation!
They could also pull a few from the vaults and make them available too.
I would love a show from the POG tour. We know that the Kitchener show was recorded, because that was the source for the live tracks on the US release. Put the whole show out for us!!

JAM I always felt that way about it too until one day I saw it at a great price (I think they had marked it as if it were a single cd) so I picked it up. Well there was no looking back. It's fantastic and I have to agree with Donna that it is worth the price just to hear Florida. You may not want your kids there for the intro though - hilarious as it is.
Greg Keelor met Jim Cuddy and then I met you people. Serendipity is a marvellous thing. "I guess I don't know if I believe in God but I know a song can make you feel good once in a while." ~Greg Keelor~

LISA WHAT A GREAT IDEA!!
I would gladly, purchase as many different shows as I could lay my hands on!!
I usually only get out to see the band once a year now, at the Amphitheatre show...
There was a time, prior to my separation, when I used to go and see them at Massey Hall, and The Music Hall, when BR and friends was still happening, every December 30th. Kind of a drag, now that they only seem to do one show per year, here in Toronto.. I"ve been to EVERY BR show for the last 16 years here in Toronto...when there used to be 2 or 3 per year. When I listen to a BR, CD??...I like it "LOUD", just like they were here in my livingroom. So, as far as I"m concerned, it"s a GREAT idea!!! PS: any idea, as to when the seat assignments for the Toronto show wil be finalized??? As you may well imagine???? I CAN"T WAIT !!! (cause for me...it"s only once a year now) Bluetunes... As always: Thanks for the tremendous effort, you continually put forth, for ALL of us!!!

You've got to get JLAV, JAM, you're missing out on soooo much! There are a couple of things in between songs that I play, then rewind, then play, then rewind, over and over again just to hear Jim's voice! One is just before After The Rain when he says to someone in the audience 'you love everyone, don't you?' (you've gotta hear it to understand) and another part at the beginning of Montreal where he does this crazy little laugh and says 'it's not going well' (I think because he made a mistake on one little part of Cynthia just before). I just grin from ear to ear every time I hear it! Gotta go listen right now!
Yesterday is yesterday. (This Town) It's only heaven descending. (Black Ribbon) Just remember, if the world didn't suck, we'd all fall off.
