It would be great if there was some way buyers could know what seats they are buying at the time of purchase. I appreciate the chance to buy tickets in advance of the general public and all the hard work behind the scenes that must go into providing us with pre-sales. However, not everyone has the same notion of "best" seats. For example, some people would prefer to be closer to the center and further back from the stage than at the front but way off to the side.
If it's not possible for the website to provide seat #s at the time of purchase, what about at least a system that lets buyers know their place in line, so to speak. For example, if there are 100 tickets, and you're buying the last 2 available, that would be good to know in advance. This could ease the disappointment some people might feel on the day of the concert when they realize they are off to the side, or in front of a speaker, for example. Also, is it possible to define "best," for eg. is a seat in row 5 at the far end of the row considered "better" than seats closer to the center in row 6?

I agree it would be nice, Kristine. Here's a slight alternative: If the individual seats cannot be identified, perhaps the block of seats could. For example, if fans knew that the pre-sale seats included rows A to C, seat numbers 10 to 20, or something like that, then a quick check of the venue's seating plan would help fans decide whether or not to try to obtain tix that way. And, to address my previously articulated issue with the sale times, maybe the pre-sale could be split into two or three segments. For instance, pre-sale 1 could be held at 10:00 a.m. on a weekday for one-third of the seats. Pre-sale 2 could be held at 8:00 p.m. on a weeknight for another third. And the final third of the pre-sale seats could be sold during pre-sale 3 at 2:00 p.m. on a Saturday. That would give people on almost any schedule a chance to buy great seats.

Jules, I'm sorry this happened to you and can understand you being upset. But it's not true that we asked for more seats this morning as that ticket girl told you. She was misinformed. We sent in our seat-holds to the venue last evening, soon after our pre-sales ended. They were supposed to block those seats and only open up the rest for the public sale this morning. It was communication breakdown at their end that the Box Office workers weren't informed, leading to this situation. Fortunately, the promoter intercepted before too many tickets were sold and the disaster was averted.
You really think we would be so inconsiderate and silly as to bump our fans from their seats after they have bought their tickets? What advantage is it to us to antagonize the fans like that? Whether you are online or offline, you are after all part of one big Blue Rodeo community. We were legitimately upset that this happened to some of you, and took this up with the venue. And even though it's not our fault, I apologize for this.
Also, Jules, the irony is not lost on me that if it wasn't for your post this morning, we wouldn't have caught this error in time. So although we can't get you any better seats - as you would have gotten the same seats you eventually got if not for the venue's mistake - I would like to send you a thank you gift for your fortuitous help. And again, I am sorry that this happened.
Plateman, if you have any grievances, please articulate or you're welcome to talk to me when you see me at the show. Just saying, "Pre-sale LOL it is turning into a farce..." is like pooing in the house you visit as a guest, after partaking in all that it has offered you. If that's the trust and respect you have for what the band does through this site, or atleast attempts to do even if imperfectly, then you're welcome to not participate in the pre-sales and leave. It's one thing to be critical of the process and quite another to cast a doubt on our intent and credibility.
Moon&Tree and Adele, thanks for your suggestions. I'll respond shortly.

Sorry to hear about the mess up with your tickets Jules and Nancy I hope you don't end up with the same problem. I know there have been a lot of negative comments about the pre-sales in the last while but for the record I would like to say that I really think the pre-sales are great. I have bought three or four sets of tickets through pre-sales and they have all been terrific. I know there have been problems and that always sucks but I sure hope BR.COM continues to offer the pre-sales. Thank you to the gang who work so hard to organize them.

I completely agree with you DonnaR. When I read your post I realized mine may have seemed like I was being critical of the suggestions which is not what I meant to do. I think there were some great suggestions and I agree that its terrific that we can offer ideas to make the system work better.
