Now, I am still in a muddle about getting the emoticons from the Options. I understand how to get the code for them but after I go into Options how do I get back to my message? I keep losing it?Embarassed

    Sammie:

Lindsay, you had asked for an example of the post counts being off. DebP should have 3 picks & a count of 3001 or 3002. Instead she has 4 picks & 4,670.

A number of others have commented in numerous threads about their counts being up from what they should be.

Lindsay, I had somewhere between 3400 and 3500 posts on the old Board.  Now I have 4482.  I've been busy since The Switch (Ray, don't you start calling it The Schwitch, now! Devil), but I haven't been *that* prolific.  I don't mind, though.  Many of us lost some posts a little while back, and I figured this just made up for it.

As for the number of posts I now show 8,475 posts.  Before the change over I believe I had about 5,500 posts.  Geeked

Thanks for restoring our names Lindsay.  It's good to see familiar names back on the board.Smile

Maybe I've missed this somewhere but I have two web addresses in my signature and I've tried using an HTML link but they still don't work. Any suggestions?

This new board makes it difficult to show html code.  So Strat, you can find a couple HTML suggestions for your signature here

On the code issue - ubb provided a tag to allow HTML to be shown.  On this new board, I tried the ascii codes, but found though it would display okay in preview, it would not display right when I hit post.  By ascii code I mean using:

Had to create an image in order to print those characters.

    Sammie:

I know I am sorely lacking in understanding of this technical 'stuff', so if my question doesn't make sense to you tech people, please just consider where it's coming from!Embarassed

My question has to do with replying to messages. Lindsay posted to Daneane's comment:

    Composing Messages

    1. Using either "reply" or "quick reply" it is difficult to also be able to view thread your are replying to. The quick reply window sticks, so can't be moved aside. This is a big reason why we made the "Reply" button more prominent than the "Quick Reply" button. The "Reply" button allows you to read the most recent post unlike the "Quick Reply" feature that is best used for quick posts where you don't need to re-read a previous post before your answer.

OK, that's great if you're replying to the last post. If I'm replying to a post before that, do I have any options to see it as I post? I know somone posted somewhere about opening multiple windows, it all seemed very complicated! Does it have to be this hard? Or am I just really, really stupid?Embarassed

Using multiple windows has been mentioned and that's a good idea. If however, you're mainly reply to one specific post, click on that post's "Reply" button.  It will show you just that one specific post.

As for post counts, we're looking into this matter. Why it happened, I have no idea. But now that we have some explains to work with, we can start figuring out how to fix it.

Also, your board join date should be fixed now.

    Lindsay

    More weirdness

I started a new thread.  There is an error in the title.  When I tried to edit it, nothing happened.  Subject line stayed the same.  So then I tried to delete the thread, and just start again, but after only a few minutes, it said I could not.

Additionally, from that error page, there is not a link back to the forums.

Re: Questions About The New Board

I have a question about the PM notification option. It seems that you can only temporarily apply these options. How long does this temporary application last? Or is there somewhere else that we're supposed to check to get email notifications?

Re: Questions About The New Board

I replied to a couple of posts and then when I came back a bit later and pressed New Since Last Visit, my post didn't show up there. Frown I would have assumed I would come back to the computer, press "new since last visit" and that it would be updated. Am I doing something wrong?

I think because it is new since your last visit AND posts you have not read (it says this at the top of the page of results).  At least if no one else had replied since then.

Why do I have to give a reason for deleting my own post?

Re: Questions About The New Board

Well, I suppose it helps Admin know if there's a problem with the Board.  I had to delete the duplicate and triplicate of a post I made yesterday.  I encountered a Windoze error and my computer froze, but apparently not quickly enough!  So when I logged back on, I saw three identical posts.  When I deleted the second and third copies, I noted that the reason was an error on my computer.

Were you able to delete the post without giving a reason?

Re: Questions About The New Board

Sort of... I posted, then deleted it, when the text box popped up, I just typed in a few letters and clicked on delete.  If you leave the text box blank, the program will demand that you enter text.

I can see your point about alerting the admins to potential problems, Adele, but other than that, I don't see the benefit of giving a reason.

And just in case, the answer is already posted somewhere else, could I please be directed to it. (I thought I'd read everything).
