Attention Hockey fans.
I was visiting some people tonight and just thumbed through the Avon catalog. Wait! Guys, before you sign off, here are a few items you might be interested in and you don't have to tell anyone where you got it.
The Canadian teams are all there and some US teams too. ie. Slippers with your teams' logo, laminated plaque of your team after just scoring, with some of its players and #5 player's back where you can put your name it, coffee mug, blanket, playing cards, pen with a flashlight on the opposite end. Then on pages near the end of the booklet, gloves, etc...
"All I want for Christmas is...."
Happy shopping!

I agree.on #21. It's been clear for some time but the public has not really paid him as much attention as some of the other players like the so called battle of the goalies and the local rookie, Latendresse. I think this is good for him - keep his head clear. In an interview with Theo when he was in town recently, he spoke about the difference between Hockey town and Colorado. He can actually walk out an' about and no one recognizes him. To be fair, his messy personal life was the first item on local news. It was getting to be too much even for this fan. You are very welcome for the Calendar. I mailed some other calendars and got no feedback. So, because I often pass up on stuff just because there's only so much you can keep around, I will keep an eye out for another Habs-care package for you. Anything for a HABS fan. W&T

(I'm thinking that I should change my online name to After Midnight ) Edmonton definately showed up at the game last against Montreal. (The ref's however???) They were, hummmm, aggressive on the ice Some of the fans decided to get in on it too outside between the 2nd and 3rd. What do you think about the shoot out system? Glad the Habs won. W&T

At the risk of sounding like a complete idiot - which, when it comes to hockey, I am - I have a question to ask all of you experts. I attended the 4th hockey game of my entire life today, and I was wondering why, if someone trips someone just as they're about to score a goal, and the shot goes in anyway, the goal counts but the penalty is not enforced. Is it like football where you have to either take the play or take the penalty, and the team declined the penalty in order to get the goal, or what's the deal? The penalty was called and announced but the player didn't have to sit out. I'm no hockey expert but I felt the next two minutes were kind of the pivotal moments in the game, and it would have been a big difference had that player been out with a penalty. Thanks to anyone who can maybe help me out here :)

Hey Geoff, it was a high school girls' hockey game. There wasn't time for any kind of substitution, probably one second elapsed between the time the girl was tripped and when she scored the goal. She basically shot it from her knees, pretty impressive goal actually. ECA was already shorthanded when they scored that goal, which pulled them within 3-2. If the girl from the other team had served the penalty, they'd have been at even strength. As it was, ECA quickly got another penalty, ended up down two skaters, the other team scored, made it 4-2 and pretty much sealed the game. I did get an explanation from someone that it has something to do with a delayed penalty, that technically the penalty had occurred before the goal, and then the goal wiped out the penalty. I can't say it makes sense to me - honestly, it sounds pretty dumb, if I was playing I'd just foul anybody with an open look, because either I prevent the goal or I don't have to serve the penalty - but if that's the rule that's the rule I guess. Overall though not a bad first-ever game for the girls' high school hockey team here. Boys' hockey has been established in a sizable minority of schools here (generally limited to medium-sized and large schools in the northern part of the state, or very large schools in the southern part) but there are only I believe 22 girls' teams in the state. Three area schools combined to form a girls' team, played their first game ever yesterday, and despite being outshot 38-8 only lost 4-2 to the defending state champions... not too bad I suppose.

Great to hear more girls are playing hockey. I haven't been to a girls game yet. You've got me thinking about it now. Sports are a great way to pass the cold Winter months. Although a hot cup of cocao and a movie once in while is good too. In grade school, I did play floor hockey (Ringette) and got a trophy to prove it. In my house, only the boys skated. I've taking skating lessons and within the first year, fell and broke my tailbone. I couldn't sit down without pain for almost 2 months. However, I since attempted skating again including standing on the Rideau during Winterlude festival with my skates on. WooHoo! No worries. The season is just starting. I think my skates still fit and there's an indoor arena in town that rent out a metal bar that helps you keep your balance on the ice. I just won't go early in the am when the pro's are practicing. All star game and the East wins over the West 9 to 8. Yeah! I think Souray will do very well with his slapshot over 100mph. Hear yee! Hear yee! Buy your 2008 All Star tickets here, right here! Yes sir, the next all star game is in Montreal. Buy your tickets now! (It'll be my 1st) Ok maybe it's not fair because we had the all star game here in 1993 but it is our 100th anniversary next year. Besides, the mecca of hockey needs all the encouragement to another Stanley cup that it can get. What do you think about the new jerseys? 14% less sweat and lighter = $$$ marketing to me. W&T

You are correct the All Star game was tonight and I had to miss it. I like the jerseys the Canadians have :) you got it it's a happy face logo. Very popular with locals and visitors alike. I also really like the retro jerseys ...Grandma's knitting red, white and blue, just like the old days. W&T
