As someone who loves to play the mandolin though doesn't own one at the moment, and knows NOTHING about tablature, can I ask one of you to explain what "2b" means?

Sorry, can't help you.  I don't play the mandolin.  I just put up the tab as requested.  I know there are some mandolin players around here who could answer you question.  Good luck.

Ive wanted to get a mandolin for a long time, I think I may get one in the next few weeks.  This tab would be a nice place to start I think.
