thought I would share the below email since it involves tickets to a free taping of the Sadies...and Gord Downie. What a combo! Good luck in getting tickets... if you are interested!
Hello Fuse Fans,
Back in Ottawa, we've got a very exciting Fuse coming up on Tuesday, November 13.
We're welcoming the Tragically Hip's Gord Downie and alt-country legends The Sadies to our Studio 40 stage!
Because this is bound to be a popular show, we are not taking ticket requests from potential audience members. Rather, you have to win your ticket to be part of the taping.
And how, you ask?
Well, you've got several chances. We're reserving a handful of tickets for readers of this very email list, if you can answer 2 skill-testing questions. We'll draw a bunch of names from the pile of correct answers--just reply to this email with your guesses. Deadline to reply is tomorrow, Wednesday Nov 7th, at 12PM.
Question 1: Members of the Sadies were involved in a recent side project that also included a member of Blue Rodeo. Name this side project.
Question 2: Gord Downie is known for breaking into improvisational monologues in the middle of Hip songs, when they play live. One monologue in the middle of "New Orleans is Sinking" has become especially famous--in fact, a version of it ended up as a B-side on one of their singles. Name the monologue, or give a short synopsis of what it's about.
We'll contact the winners by Wednesday afternoon. And if you don't win this time around, you've got a few other chances. We'll be giving away tickets on All in a Day between 3 - 3:30pm today (Tues), on Ottawa Morning sometime Thursday morning (between 6 - 8:30am), and again on CBC Television's News at Six on Thursday or Friday.
Good luck, and thanks as always for your support of Fuse!
