HazySoul: Sammie: I did see mention of US dates in May, Torri, now that you mention it, but personally I was hoping they were going to include something in the Eastern US, too! Eh, Ray?!
It must be tough waiting for the eastern dates. After all they haven't been there since OCTOBER!!!! [SEG]
hehehe....I know, I know, Torri...but I didn't make it to NYC in October!

Well Ray, they are saying May is when to expect our stimulus money...so it could be fate. Any hoo...on Torri's question. Hell ya!!! If it weren't for this place I would not have traveled from Florida to Stratford in January last year and would not be going to Kitchener this year in February. I came here, many years ago, looking to see if there was a snow ball's chance that I might see the band around here, of course there wasn't, but I did get something a whole lot better!!!

Re: Do you see more Blue Rodeo shows since you've joined this community?
This is an interesting thread, but it's making me feel a wee bit left out. :'( j/k! I just wish I had gone to as many shows as so many of you have. Oh well, the next 20 years will hopefully treat me better! :D The Ottawa show will be my fourth BR concert. (That's funny! They will then be tied with Metallica! :p) My first BR show was in Magog, Québec on the Outskirts tour. I wasn't a member of the fan club then, but joined after the concert. My second BR show was in Lennoxville, Québec on the Diamond Mine tour and by that time I was a member, although the club wasn't online then. I remember thinking I was really cool with my Outskirts sweatshirt, which I took off to reveal my black Diamond Mine t-shirt when I got too hot from dancing! LOL There is one thing I will never forgive my mom for: she didn't let me go to Toronto for the Blue Rodeo Christmas Party when I was in grade nine. I was so bummed! :( I didn't get a chance to see them on the Casino tour because (again!) my Mom wouldn't let me. :p After that, we moved to Florida and my babysitting cashflow ceased to exist. Didn't renew my club membership or see any other shows for quite a few years. :( My third BR show was when they were touring to promote the DVD. I didn't think to renew to the fan club because I didn't have much money at the time. I could barely affort the concert tickets, and the ten bucks for parking put me in the red. :p Ottawa will be my fourth timee seeing the guys. As soon as I decided to go, I looked BR up on the net and was pleased to see this site up and running - and kicking myself for not having looked for it sooner! - so my 4th show will be as a DB member. :D But, to directly answer the thread's question, none of my shows (as yet) have been as a direct result of having met you all online, although I am looking forward to the show that much more because of getting to meet up in the nonvirtual world. :) Also, it is really torturing me not to go to the Montreal show because I would also like to hook up with you guys there, but I just can't bring it about. At least I have the Valentine's Day show to look forward to. It's gonna be sweeeeet! :D:D:D

LOL...well now I'm not greedy (actually I am) so if they choose the West Coast over more East Coast I am (trying to be) OK with it since it's been so damn long since they've been out there.

Just to be clear...I said 'include' something in the Eastern States, not 'instead of The Western States!! [SEG]

Re: Do you see more Blue Rodeo shows since you've joined this community?
I have been to more BR shows since joining the board, definitely. And my seats have improved because now I participate in the pre-sales (thank you BR admins!), which leads to regularly going to Massey Hall and Molson Amp each year. And being on the board also keeps me informed on Greg, Jim, Glenn and Bob E's solo shows, which I enjoy as well. And because of board membership, I have travelled to see them. Otherwise, I doubt I would've done so. Especially Stratford. I would not have known about the Stratford week-ends if I hadn't joined the board, met up with some boardies at the 'Shoe, then been asked if I was going to Stratford that year. Well, I didn't that year (2002), but I did in 2003, and I've been to each one since then! Now I'm going to Kitchener! Really looking forward to it. The farthest I've travelled to see them is NYC. That is also as a result of joining the board. But as folks have mentioned, most of the fun in traveling to see them is meeting up with board members, who have become friends and people whose company I enjoy very much. Long love the board!!

Re: Do you see more Blue Rodeo shows since you've joined this community?
OH YEAH, ever since I joined the board, I've gone to more shows. The reasons being is that you do get to meet boardies which turn out to be your GOOD friends (sorry hehehehehe) and you have the music in common so now you have someone to meet up with or go with or just plain enjoy the show with. I can't count how many shows I've gone to, but they're numerous that's for sure. Meeting up at shows with other boardies is so much fun and makes the show better because of the enjoyment factor. Before I joined the board, I NEVER bought presale as I thought it should just be for the members, also, when I was at a general admission show, though I was able to get to the front, I NEVER did. Well now, I buy presale and hope for the best seats just so that I can sit beside fellow members, and at a general admission show, well you'll see me right in the front alongside other members which make the show so much more fun. Meeting the boardies that I have, I have to say they're the nicest, sweetest most wonderful people you can meet and I always look forward to seeing them again

Re: Do you see more Blue Rodeo shows since you've joined this community?
It's strange, but I had never been to a Blue Rodeo show before I joined this discussion board, even though I have been buying their records since Outskirts was released. I think it was reading the reviews posted here, and just the general enthusiasm, that made me want to see the band perform live. The first show I attended wasn't actually a Blue Rodeo concert at all, but was the Leonard Peltier benefit show a few years back, featuring Jim and Greg. I was so impressed by their performance as a duo that night! I knew I had to see a concert featuring the whole band. I don't get to see them perform as often as the opportunity presents itself, or as often as I might like to. Compared to a lot of people here at BR.com I have actually attended very few concerts. When I do, and I get a chance to meet folks from the board, it feels like a really special event. I will probably always try to see Blue Rodeo at least once during the year, as long as they continue as a band. I also really enjoy those occasions when Greg and/or Jim perform their solo projects, or join The Sadies, The Good Brothers, etc. as special guests, or participate in special tribute shows, apart from the Blue Rodeo tours.
I carry with me the memory of a field I once knew, of a night so full of stars that I was left humbled by it's endless beauty. I know that whatever the cost, life is worth living. So bring it on...I can take it.

Re: Do you see more Blue Rodeo shows since you've joined this community?
I had seen BR twice before I joined the board, but since joining, between BR and JCB shows, I've seen them 13 or 14 times (the first was April 2005).
Yesterday is yesterday. (This Town) It's only heaven descending. (Black Ribbon) Just remember, if the world didn't suck, we'd all fall off.
