I was wondering if the Torontonians on the board could help me identify a particular city neighbourhood.
Back when I lived there, I used to explore the city by getting off at a subway stop and then walking at random for as long as I could. There's a neighbourhood that sticks in my mind, but I neglected to write the stop and the major streets in my diary.
I think I got off somewhere near the Danforth and walked pretty much all afternoon, maybe 5 miles in a couple of directions. I found myself in a neighbourhood where there were old, big, squat, two storey brick houses quite unlike the typically tall, thin houses found throughout the city. Even more strikingly, they mostly had land on all four sides and were often surrounded by brick walls. There were big, tall, old trees. Many pines.
Where did I go?
I know it was not Rosedale -- I made a special trip to see that neighbourhood.
A friend has suggested that I got off at the Pape stop and walked into Riverdale, but that looks like one heck of a walk.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
borderline useless from hanging around
