No disrespect, Bluegirl, but the first thing

that came to my twisted mind was Roadkill. LOL

To be or not to be is NOT the question!

Rather, is it your will to be here, or to be elsewhere?

Ok  ....I will admit to being a little oversensitive to music period, and a LOT of songs bring tears to my eyes...mainly country songs, but I havent read all the posts on these 15 pages, but cant believe no ones said "PULL ME THROUGH"  ????  (at least I couldnt find it)  Especially when understanding what the song was written about, it always elicits a tear from my eyes... Could this be the best Canadian song written in years? I would say so anyway,,,,My 2 CENTS

Raising you three, I would have thought Petey would have picked 19th Nervous Breakdown by the Rolling Stones.

It's a great song. What a tribute.  At last night's show in Montreal, while Jim was singing this song, I saw a girl with her elbows on the stage, crying a lot. I also got tapped on the shoulder for a tissue. Looking around there were others. I guess you're right about this emotional song!

My stepdaughter's Mother- & Father-in-Law were both killed in a motorcycle accident this year. The last song that was played at the end of the service was Born To Be Wild. Not a dry eye in the church, but people were tapping their feet, as well!

Not a song that you would normally expect to bring you to tears !

Cool Canon in "D" By Pachelbel. Possibly   the most hauntingly beautiful piece of music ever written, when ever I hear it I"m almost overwhelmed by it"s beauty. (GOD I'm getting soft in my old age!)Crying

I have to agree with you there. My son and daughter in law had that played at their wedding instead of the traditional wedding march.

    It was beautiful!

Does the name Roy Harper mean anything in Canada? He's the same guy that Led Zeppelin namechecked on Hats Off To (Roy) Harper. Anyway his song On Summer Day is pretty moving.

Also Stacey Earle's Show Me How.

Falling Down Blue has always been one of those songs for me. Jim's new song, Pull Me Through is another one that can make me weepy if I let it.

Don't Let Me Be Lonely - James Taylor
    Cadillac - The Push Stars

hmm...there are more but those are the ones off the top of my head.

I wish I could've seen that show. I was introduced to the Push Stars when they were doing opening gigs for Great Big Sea in the states. So far I've only seen them play once (in Portland, ME in 1999). :(

Jackson Browne's In the Shape of a Heart:

It was a ruby that she wore
On a chain around her neck
In the shape of a heart
In the shape of a heart
It was a time I wont forget
    For the sorrow and regret
And the shape of a heart
And the shape of a heart
I guess I never knew what she was talking about
I guess I never knew what she was living without

    People speak of love
Dont know what theyre thinking of
Wait around for the one who fits just like a glove
Speak in terms of belief and belonging
Try to fit some name to their longing
    People speak of love

There was a hole left in the wall
    From some ancient fight
About the size of a fist
Or something thrown that had missed
And there were other holes as well
In the house where our nights fell
    Far too many to repair
In the time that we were there

    People speak of love
Dont know what theyre thinking of
Reach out to each other though the push and shove
Speak in terms of a life and the learning
Try to think of a word for the burning

You keep it up, you try so hard
To keep a life from coming apart
    And never know
What breaches and faults are concealed
In the shape of a heart

It was the ruby that she wore
On a stand beside the bed
    In the hour before dawn
When I knew she was gone
And I held it in my hand
    For a little while
And dropped it into the wall
Let it go, heard it fall
I guess I never knew what she was talking about
I guess I never knew what she was living without
    People speak of love
Dont know what theyre thinking of
Wait around for the one who fits just like a glove
Speak in terms of a life and the living
Try to find the word for forgiving

    You keep it up
    You try so hard
To keep a life from coming apart
And never know the shallows and the unseen reefs
That are there from the start
In the shape of a heart

I talk to you, you talk to me
And in my heart I've been set free ~ Shannon Lyon
