    Re: BR@the Ford Plant!!!

I have always wanted to hear Love and Understanding - don't recall that one.

They did play Moon & Tree!!   It was probably my favourite set of songs they've ever played.   Great hearing Now and Forever, House of Pain, Dark Angel...

There was a write-up in a monthly magazine that comes with the local newspaper, before the show, that said Blue Rodeo were only charging the Ford Plant for expences.  The Plant had to close down once in the past due to lack of money but  managed to secure some new funding/investment from someone and reopen but were in danger of closing again due to lack of money again.  If I remember right, they figured with the blue rodeo show they would be able to stay open another year.   It sounded like that was a big reason Blue Rodeo agreed to play there, and only charge for expences.    What a very cool thing for them to do!

Everyone can probably relate to how great it feels to see your favourite band play in your very own town, esp. when it's town that's a bit off the main track.   Add the fact that they were playing in a non-profit place that helps the local music community and youth in one of the crappiest parts of town - well it was an amazing feeling being there!  A real feel-good night.   I've lived here all my life and worked for a stint in the welfare office downtown so I've gotten a sense of the need for a place like the Ford Plant here and what a terrific bunch of guys Blue Rodeo are to help out!

But hey just to mention that great things are happening downtown with new businesses opening up and Laurier University's Brantford campus expanding every year.

I was extremely lucky to get tickets - through an old friend of my husband who is friends with tim ford - he had told me at the time that the tickets were pretty much spoken for by family and friends of the guys who run the FP - there are nine of them or something close to it.

Hey and I finally got to meet Greg.  I've gotten a chance in the past to meet the other members of BR but was always too scared to meet Greg, well that night he seemed in great spirits so I went up to him and got to shake his hand and thank him for coming.  Pretty cool.

It was also pretty cool for me because I brought along a friend from work who had never seen them before live and she was totally blown away.  So that was fun appreciating them through fresh eyes again...

Deb, I sympathize with you that you didn't know about it.  And anyone else who didnt' get to go.  Fran and Sonya - it was nice to see you guys again.  I dont' get out much anymore with having little ones at home but I sure can't complain about that now for a while
