    Re: chat room

because we can now see who is on the board when we are on I think it would be great if we could have a place on the board (besides odigo) to chat. what does everyone think about that?

    chat room

I don't want to sound like I'm whining or complaining but I really don't like Odigo. I removed it a while back because I wasn't using it anymore... and then decided to download it again so I can chat with other crew members about our duties... and it took me close to an hour to download the program and then I got an error message at the very end. I was very frustrated.

I would definitely prefer a chatroom that doesn't involve downloading anything. I don't know what the general consensus is on this matter, but that's my opinion.

But....it would be cool.....in a perfect world, that whatever members (and many guests, as we can now see!) that sign in could just access a 24 hour BR forum...which would mirror our discussion board, but just take in whoever happened (WHOMever?) to arrive, if you know what I mean. We could choose to go live or just to the board as we usually do. As I'm sure everyone will agree, sometimes you feel like talking, and sometimes you just want to check in an read......I haven't got a "#&%ing clue as to how that would be done ...but I know lots of you have.......what do you think. I agree. I would also be interested in a chatroom that required no additional downloads or anything like that. Smile

I have Odigo, but I was never a really big fan of it either.

    Re: chat room

I've never used Odigo except for this site, but recently, when I needed to get it, I had no problem at all. I just signed in to "Odigo Express". Didn't have to download anything and it worked with Mac OS X.

Personally I think the most vile aberration of humanity in any way related to this site is MP3.COM. I used to submit to their particular brand of foulness to hear BR stuff, but not anymore. It's cookie, pop-up maze land over there. Big time yuck. The one time I bought anything there, they cheated me and would not give a refund or return any of my notes of inquiry. It took months to get my money back and I had to go through my credit card company to finally get it back. Icky, icky, icky.

It't too bad really as a lot of little known musicians use it as a place to get their music known. At least there is still eMusic. That place is much more tolerable.

    Re: chat room

I don't have access to Odigo anymore and no one ever appears on MSN - so if those who are on board want to chat (albeit not instantly) I've created a "Blue Room" over in General Discussion. Not sure if it's going to work - but hey, it's worth a try!!! Big Grin

    Re: chat room

Great idea Shining Star. In fact, I was lamenting the inability to chat live just this week. (The public site I use firmly disallows downloads like Odigo. I wanted to sneak it by them once, but it seems that the choice isn't popular anyways, judging by your experiences.

So, count me in as a yay. Sure would save a lot of clicking and traveling about the board at times. Cool

To be or not to be is 'not' the question...rather, is it to be here, or to be elsewhere, your will!?

    Re: chat room

Well I downloaded Odigo awhile ago. Seems no one from this site is ever on there and the only people who want to chat are the men from the far east and you know chatting isn't what they really have in mind!!!! Razz I will soon be getting rid of it.

So the Blue Room board is where we go then for chatting? I have MSN and don't mind chatting instantly if anyone wants to.

    Re: chat room

I have Odigo and downloaded it a while ago when we used to meet to chat. I also had ICQ at that time. I never seem to find anybody on Odigo either when I occasionally go in to see who's online.

What's MSN like? Maybe I'll download that. It would be great to talk to you guys realtime once in a while, some of us used to do it quite regularly through Odigo or ICQ.

    Re: chat room

I actually prefer MSN myself. That way you can pick and choose who you want to talk to by adding them as a buddy. If you download it and want to try it out I would be more then happy to chat with you. You can find my hotmail address (which you need to add a buddy) in my profile

    Re: chat room

I much prefer MSN for chatting now as well. With Odigo I found that I got too many weird messages from strange people, and it was annoying when I was trying to talk to someone that I actually *wanted* to talk to. I pretty much quit using ICQ as well.... I think this program had it's day in the sun like three years ago. MSN is much more user friendly, and it's more convenient. I like being able to go to any computer that has MSN installed on it, and being able to get my contact list. Smile

    Re: chat room

Well... it's a year later, and as far as I know, people still aren't using Odigo... so how about setting something else up as a chat room for the Blue Rodeo community??? Please!! There are lots of free chat rooms available... it owuld just be a matter of having a link to it on the homepage or discussion board. So what do ya say??
