Or is Greg getting better and better all the time. He continues to amaze me! On the new album he sounds f*cking great! "So Far Away" is fantastic as is "Black Ribbon". He floored me on the album R U Ready and now this. He totally blows my mind by how good he sounds and I cannot say enough about his talent, pure genius. Sorry Jim fans! but this is the Keelor Club.

I've become a huge Greg Keelor fan over the past few years, and the appreciation continues to grow.
There was a time when I wasn't fully aware of Greg's influence being the overriding reason I was so enamoured with the group; I knew only there was something unique and outstanding that drew me to Blue Rodeo. Turns out, it was Greg Keelor. As talented as Jim Cuddy is, to be honest, if he were the sole leader in the band, I'm confident I would be a casual fan only. That said, the band wouldn't even exist and wouldn't have lasted all these years without Jim. I just think Greg adds magic to the mix. I don't understand how some think he can't sing! I think he was good to start with, and has gotten immeasurably better with the years. His guitar, well, speaks for itself.

Greg has always been my favourite member of BR -- and I've been a fan since I was five. (Mother likes BR too, but she is a Cuddyan). Something about him appealed to me, even at that young age. Not quite sure what it was, but it was something (in those eyes, that keeps me hanging on, I'm hypnotised?).
That being said, when I was younger, I tended to skip the songs that weren't as "sing-along-y", and those ended up being Greg songs sometimes...well, can you imagine a seven-year-old singing along to "Know Where You Go/Tell Me Your Dream"? Or a nine-year-old singing "Flaming Bed"? The real treat about all those songs is rediscovering them now that I'm older and saying, "Hey, you know what? This song is really great!" (I still have no idea why I ever skipped "Angels". The guitar in that is AWESOME.) Just my $0.02 on the magic that is Greg.
"There's the shirt that I like!" "It was nice singing with you this evening."

Hapster, I agree - - Greg's music is getting more and more soulful, mature, MOVING, and exciting. I just love his tracks on the new album. Yes, I am a Keelorite, although lately I've become a borderline Cuddyian too. It's true. But Greg's still my guy.

Bluegirl:Nope! Hazy would tolerate talking to me on the phone once in a blue moon before because everything was "Jim, Jim, Jim", but now that I'm a semi-Keelorite, I practically have to screen my calls !!
HA HA HA! Yes I am always calling Lori to tallk about GREG GREG GREG. It seems to me the last time his name came up during a phone conversation it was my holding the phone to my speakers so you could hear a GREG song. You're coming along just fine Lori. You nut. On a more serious note I completely agree with you Hapster. To me Greg gets better & better every year. His songs on this cd just blow my mind. I love them all. At this point I think my fave is Makes Me Wonder. I know a lot of people need time to appreciate Greg's songs and I just don't get that although the more I hear them the more I tend to love them. I am with you Larry in terms of people who think Greg doesn't sing well and it boggles my mind. His voice to me is just pure magic. Jim is awesome but I connect more with Greg's songs and his voice. The truth is Blue Rodeo brings out the best in both of them. It is nice to see a Keelorite conversation happening.
Greg Keelor met Jim Cuddy and then I met you people. Serendipity is a marvellous thing. "I guess I don't know if I believe in God but I know a song can make you feel good once in a while." ~Greg Keelor~

I agree with that statement totally. I think that is what draws so many people to the band...there's something for everyone and every facet of everyone. I've never picked a side (cuddyan or keelorite), I've never been able to. I'm not good at making decisions and that one is just too difficult...LOL. But there is an absolute magic to Greg and his songs....and I like the fact that he goes places that many songwriters wouldn't risk...he is just awesome!!!

Fricka: It was Keelor that I used to seduce my husband into loving Blue Rodeo as much as I do....
LOL!! I found that strategy works well. Used it on my hubby too!! Keelor's work grabs the soul.

And on the song "Beautiful" when it kicks into the up tempo near the end of the song and Glenn's drums have that great sound and Greg's sweet voice, WOW what a tune! Just love it!

Hazy I love "It Makes Me Wonder" too - I keep playing it full blast everytime I'm driving in my car. I'm sure all the people in neighbouring cars are thinking, "what is that music playing????". Happy to be a Greg/Blue rodeo Booster! And can't wait to see Greg's pants on the new tour (can't resist bringing up that subject...)
