Does any one listen to any heavy music here?

I m a big BR fan, but theyre on the lower volume level of the stuff i listen to (did that make any sense?)

My preference is heavier music. but i guess my taste are pretty varied. i listen to neil young, the hip, some heavier stuff like godsmack, and pearl jam , sabbath, zeppelin, deep purple and even heavier like metallica , slayer and 3 inches of blood.

seems like everytime i hear someone mention other bands/artist they like, its usually country or any thing else they easy listening (i really cant find a better term here)

im not criticizing anyone taste, just wondering if their are any "metalheads" out there.  i think people not into hard rock and metal would be suprised at some songs these guys come up with. they might even like some of them.

I do.  I dont prefer it to "light stuff"  it really depends on my mood.  Nirvana is definitely on my top 5 favourite bands.

I listen to Metallica, Hendrix (some of his stuff was pretty heavy), Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, early punk stuff.  Im really all over the place.  I think some Neil Young stuff definitely fits into this category, I mean "Hey Hey My My" was probably one of the heaviest songs around at the time.

I actually saw 3 Inches of Blood in concert a few years ago here.  Im not really a fan, but I had a ticket and went. My first, and so far only time in a mosh pit.  Here in Timmins theres a pretty big metal scene, most of the local bands are metal, or just really heavy.  (Kind of weird considering Shania Twain is from here and Stompin' Tom got his start here).

I like a lot of different types of music and definetely like hard rock. Guns N Roses is one of my all time favourites as well as Metallica..Nirvana for sure and also Pearl Jam. Love old Ozzy and Sabbath. Led Zeppelin. I've seen Judas Priest in concert back in the day as well as Motley Crue, AC DC, Bon Jovi...quite a few times. Had the pleasure of seeing G N R with Metallica and Living Colour in Toronto quite a few years ago. Even hit the Monsters of Rock tour back in 1988

I love Eminem as well, but that's about as much rap as I can stand. Love the 80's hair bands and blues, and old country, classical...I'm a bit everywhere.

I think Alexisonfire is pretty heavy..? Or else considered in the genre I didn't realize existed 'emo/screamo/rock, lol

I listen to some Led Zep and AC/DC but mostly I preffer more 'modern' music like Linkin Park's newest cd (we got an older one and having trouble adjusting to the beatsIndifferent).

I'm also a fan of Three Days Grace, Billy Talent and Bullet for my Valentine. I'm not sure if they're quite what you're talking about.

Back in the day, both Metallica and Guns, but only liked one Motley Crue album. Old Stone Temple Pilots. Heart before they got soppy. I will also listen to a friend's collection of very raw Norwegian metal.

In high school, the boys wore jean jackets patched or stenciled with either Black Sabbath or Led Zep.  I was a Zep fan all the way, but quietly, since it was a guy thing.

Velvet Revolver's not bad, and they put on a great show. I hear they're having trouble these days, though.

Re: Does any one listen to any heavy music here?

I used to listen to Guns 'N Roses and Metallica, many moons ago when the earth was young and so was I! Actually, I was into them around the same time that I first discovered Blue Rodeo - go figure!

As for my current loud musical tastes, I have this cd that I burned for myself - which I have lovingly dubbed my "anger management" cd, featuring the likes of Rob Zombie, Limp Bizkit ("Break Stuff" "My Way", and the song that kept me psyched up during my college exams, "Rollin'!"), Disturbed, Linkin Park, and a few others. I also like AC/DC - actually, before the Argos home playoff game, Hells Bells (a very good AC/DC cover band) played outisde the Skydome to get the crowd warmed up. I used to be into Evanescence when they first came out, but not so much anymore. I also like Trust Company and their cd "The Lonely Position of Neutral" - some good tunes on that one!

But, I would have to say overall, Blue Rodeo and the rest of my alt-country musical leanings pretty much rule my cd player these days, but occassionally I bust out some of the harder rock, too! Wink None of that emo junk for me, though...I have no time for bands like Simple Plan or Sum 41 who all sound exactly the same as each other. (hope I'm not offending anyone out there who listens to emo! To each their own! Wink)

Re: Does any one listen to any heavy music here?

Overall, I'm more into easy listening... but I do have a few heavy rock bands that I enjoy... such as AC/DC and Metallica.  I don't think I've ever really ventured into "heavy metal" though.  I don't like it when the singers scream in that evil kind of sounding voice.  haha!  I do appreciate the talent of their drummers though.

I am also a fan of Kid Rock and Eminem.  It's kind of ironic that the two rappers I like are white.  I hope that doesn't make me racist.  LOL  But actually, Kid Rock is more than a rapper.  He ventures into country/blues and rock 'n roll as well.

I noticed that the originator of this thread's name is "hankrules".  I wonder if he means the original Hank Williams... or maybe Hank Williams III?  If it's the latter... I am also a huge fan.  I love his rockabilly/punk style music.

Re: Does any one listen to any heavy music here?

Well I've had my Musical stages... It was always Blue Rodeo first prefrence for me, but in grade 4 and 5, I kinda slowed down on Blue Rodeo and got into Eminem and 50 CENT alot. I dont listen to them much anymore, but I'l ltake the odd listen. (BEcause my brother is uptight when it comes to music and only listens to rap and a little metal). Then I took a stage into Bluegrass/Fiddle music in Grade 7.. Once again, first interest still Blue Rodeo, and Jim Cuddy Band. So I started playing the fiddle and mandolin, and this year, I'm so big on Blue Rodeo and now its the usual Josh to listen to a Blue Rodeo song, at least once a day, I and also play a song a day on the guitar. Im stil lway into Bluegrass, but I have an interest in Guns N' Roses, Ozzy Osborne, Areosmith, AC/DC, Metallica, Poison, Kiss, and a few others. BUT I do not like scream music and punk music!  drive me crazy.

But no matter what my mood is, Blue Rodeo is at the top.. I love play along the guitar or mando or fiddle with them.
