Greg Keelor and Cuff the Duke on FUSE: April 22, 2008

I'm starting this thread for Enikô, brikas and others who were actually able to attend the show tonight. (Silly random lotto. Stick out tongue)

I did speak to someone who had been in the audience, and some of the songs they did were "Prisoner", "Confessions from a Parkdale Basement", "Tired of Pretending", "Remember the Good Times", "Palace of Gold", and "If I Live or If I Die". They taped it for TV as well, and it should be airing in mid-May (assuming CBC doesn't pre-empt it or something).

Anyway, we met the Cuff the Duke lads and slipped into the studio to see Greg. He was in a jovial mood, I thought. He liked my Blue House shirt (yay!) and I got a picture with him. Enikô has that and many more pictures, which I am sure she will upload tomorrow. And she will have way more cool anecdotes than I. So stay tuned!

Thanks for the info RP!  Look forward to the photos, and eniko's story too!
I carry with me the memory of a field I once knew, of a night so full of stars that I was left humbled by it's endless beauty. I know that whatever the cost, life is worth living. So bring it on...I can take it.

Lucky girls you, I can't wait to see the pics and hear all about it.  Man, you guys have been wearing horseshoes lately eh? Or is it that rabbit foot????

I think Enikô gets more mileage out of the rabbit's foot than I do, considering she's the one who wins all the tickets. Wink

Oh well, I'm lucky that boyfriend dearest, even though he does razz me about it, puts up with what he calls my "chasing other men". Stick out tongue As I said to Greg:

Me: "And my boyfriend was just rolling his eyes at me when I said I had to come over here to see you."

Greg: (jokingly*) "Well, your boyfriend is a fool!"

Me: "I know! I *told* him that I'd known you for longer, so you get priority!"

    Greg: (laughs)

*I think Lori gave him a gift at a show one time (Barrymore's?), and he said jokingly, "It's about goddam time someone gave something back". That's how he said this.

Enikô actually met Greg at lunchtime when they were arriving at the CBC studios, too!! Lucky devil. That's where her display picture came from.

I love FUSE & can't wait to hear this one.  Big bonus that it was taped for TV too.  Any word on when the radio version will air?

Greg Keelor met Jim Cuddy and then I met you people. Serendipity is a marvellous thing.

Probably in a couple of weeks. I think it's two or three Saturdays after they tape an episode -- at least, that's about when Melissa McClelland and Julian Fauth's FUSE aired. I'd keep checking the website, though, just to be on the safe side.

Thanks rabbitprincess. I will keep an eye on the CBC website.  I usually try to catch FUSE but this is one I really don't want to miss.  I'm glad you guys had such a great time.

    Hi everyone! :D

A little something from the FUSE taping, for your viewing pleasure. Man! It was HARD to upload! Grrr!

I have to say right now I feel really guilty about this. I was having quite the ethical dilemma while making this, but the groupie in me won out. I am going on the record, though, to say that next time (if I am indeed fortunate enough to have a next time!) I am going to ask Amanda outright if I can make a video of one of the songs (or, perhaps she'll just let me get a 10-second snippet) and if she says no I'll let it go at that.

In the meantime, I truly hope I don't get in trouble for this and mostly that I don't get banned from any future FUSE tapings. (*eek!*)

Thanks Eniko.  That was a nice treat for those of us who couldn't be there.  I can't see it being a no-no to post it.  It's like free advertising for Fuse.  It makes me want to listen to the show even more now.

I say just keep doing it, and if they ask you to stop, then stop. You seemed to be doing a good job of camouflaging it anyway. Devil

And Cruisegirl, nice location! Those your favourite songs off the new record? Wink

Re: Greg Keelor and Cuff the Duke on FUSE: April 22, 2008

Thanks, girls, but I'm not sure I see it that way. I know people video songs at concerts, but this was taped for radio AND TV so I wonder if I'm not infringing on some copyright... Honestly, I was afraid to ask because I didn't want them to say no. But next time I'm asking. It's important for me to live by my values and I think I have been ignoring them lately... Embarrassed

Thanks RP, yes they are favorites, but I really do like the whole album.  Plus, I'm a Keelorite all the way!

Yay! You have excellent taste in musicians, CG. Wink

Well, Jim is great, too, but Greg is my favourite. I've loved him since I was six years old! *Feels old* Stick out tongue

(and my faves off the new album are Blue House and Mystic River -- that one got stuck in my head for a week.)
