    Re: first show in Peterborough

It was OK.  The acoustic set was a bit of a snooze - Jim just going through the motions (hardly talked all night), Baz trying really hard to snap himself out of a coma and Greg coming straight from working in his barn and not changing his dirty shirt (what is with that gum ! ?).  The "electric" set that followed was great though.

    Re: first show in Peterborough

Hmmmmm I doubt that Baz was in a coma,  and I'm sure that Greg wasn't working in his barn just before he hit the stage, he's a very down to earth guy and wears what HE wants to wear....and Jim welllll sometimes they just don't need to have that much banter between them, been to many shows where there's not much talking but the performance is magnificent.

As for the gum chewing.......well they go through stages I guess so I can't answer that. Sometimes Jim is chewing and sometimes it's Greg but they are still performing above and beyond if you ask me. Though I know that sometimes it can get frustrating.

Hmmm...guess I'm not picky at all. I wouldn't mind if they showed up nekkid and played........bwahahahaha! But seriously, I dont' give a rats ass what any performer wears, nor do I care if they chew gum, I'm an intermittent gum chewer myself and sometime you just need to.

And Baz comotose is probably beeter than most not!!!

    I agree KS and JAM.

This was not the kind of review I was expecting.

    Re: first show in Peterborough

Me neither......but I'm sure there will be more...we have more Peterborough shows coming up to hear about.

You know, everyone has their opinions and I understand that, but I really don't like it when people have to say negative things about what Greg is wearing. I find that very sad. We're not here to view a fashion show, we're hear to hear them sing and you know, I love what Greg wears cause he's proving to everyone in the world that he's just himself and does what he wants and wears what he wants and says what he wants cause he's GREG and doesn't have to pretend.

Now I've seen Greg in a suit, I've seen Greg wearing jeans and a t-shirt, and you know, he always sounds like GREG, so I don't think it's the clothes or the gum that make any difference.  It makes no difference to me if they've got gum in their mouth or wearing comfy clothes......they always seem to make my nightBig Smile

That's right JAM...from lastnights show it was obvious that clothes do not make a great performer.I have never seen Greg so entirely forthcoming.....he was smiling and bouncing around the stage....awesome performance all around!!

Baz certainly wasn't comatose and for the last song he was absolutely wild!

I can't say anything more about clothes, otherwise I would have to mention that Jim was looking fine as ever in those perfectly fitting jeans...umm, but it's not the clothes that make the showWink

    Re: first show in Peterborough

Sorry if I ruffled some feather folks - maybe I was a little harsh on Greg's choice of fashion (or laundry detergent) for the evening - you are right, it's all about the music and I am a huge fan of Greg's music.  However, I stick by my comment on lack of energy in the first half - in their defence I will say that ShowPlace is not a great venue for them - they have to play to an audience forced to sit which provides no energy feedback to the group - that must be hard.

A point to consider though - do you think Greg would have made the same wardrobe choice if they had played at the Juno's a few weeks back?  Interesting ...

    Cuff The Duke rocked!

I'm glad you had a great time! :D Would have loved to see Greg last night. It sure sounds like he enjoyed the show and gave a great performance... I'm almost feel down for having missed it, but hey! there is still Petawawa! :D

P.S. I think I mentioned this in the thread about the shows in Belleville, but yes, Greg's fave brown cords were very stained - and I didn't mind one bit! (I was grateful to be close enough to see those stains! lol Great seats, great shows...*reminisces*)

    Re: first show in Peterborough

You know, when Blue Rodeo was inducted in the Canadian Music Hall of Fame a few years back, Greg wore his Montreal Canadiens shirt, so that just shows that it doesn't matter what the venue, what the reason, Greg will wear what Greg wants to wear. The occassion doesn't dictate what he SHOULD or SHOULDN'T wear. There is a place and time for Greg to dress to the occasion and that's when HE chooses itBig Smile  He's a free spirit in the true sense of the wordYes

    JAM you are absolutely right!

I'd be much more interested in hearing about the show, the set list, and which songs the crowd responded to most. *hinthint* y'all who were there! ;)
