Man, that was a real STINKER of a show! The Top 5 Reasons Why I Entirely Regret Going to See Jim and Greg at the Dakota Tonite: (5) The venue was MUCH too small. I DO NOT like being that close to the stage!! (4) The sound was horrible! I HATE being able to hear every note of every song...PERFECTLY! (3) The set list was weird! Who wants to hear GEMS like Sad Nights and 3 Miles Away? YUCK! (2) Every person in line got into the show! What ever happened to being the person that gets shut out? (1) I just wanted a poster...not a damn AUTOGRAPHED poster!! Now it's all ruined and worthless!! And, on top of all of this, we actually got every bit of banter you could imagine...even, dare I say, I little bit of politically incorrect quips from the boys! hehehehehehehehehehehehehe...I finally got to see the show I've been waiting almost 20 years to see... I really, really wish everyone on this board could have been there, but the truth is the experience wouldn't have been the same...well, maybe it would have...I guess that depends on how many people actually spend time in these parts ;)

It was probably the most fun I've had at at a (sort of) BR show! Just the candidness and intimacy of the show. The guys were different than I've ever seen them...just like you think they'd be if they were playing to a room full of family and friends...well, I guess they were. I've been through a LOT on my many trips to see BR. I recall driving in a horrible snowstorm with my bro from Toronto to a dot of a town called Mount Forest. The drive took about 6 hours...and it should have taken 3...but it was all worth it when we saw how tiny the old theatre was. And I can't forget sitting next to Jim's family (1st row!) at the Opera House in Orillia a few years ago...another really cool experience. But, this really stands out. And the irony is that I was back and forth on it all day. And, truth be told, I left the venue at 6:30 tonite because I was too Torontonian to stand for 90 minutes in the cold...went to Duff's for Tuesday nite wings for an hour and then thought I'd take a drive by the Dakota. When I saw there was still a very small line, I parked my car and ran to the back of the line...I'm so happy I didn't go home! During the show, I couldn't help but think of what it was like seeing BR at Sarsfest with 400,000 fellow hosers...and now I got to see Jim and Greg in a room of just over 100...geez...

I'm just waiting for Ann's eloquent take on the night, but I just had to say last night stunk every bit as much as rodeohead said it did. How dare they play Cynthia (which Greg kinda messed up on and Jim came to the rescue) and Disappear - seriously - Disappear. I almost fell of my chair. The guys were funny, and they sounded wonderful, it really was a rare night. Jim and Greg were gracious enough to pose for pictures and sign cd's. I did get some picture, I'll post later, once I get home.

No guests, Irene, just Greg and Jim. I was going to say sorry, but I guess this would actually make you feel better, knowing that at least you didn't miss any guests. We tried to call you last night from the show, got voicemail, I think. There was one famous face in the crowd, at least I recognized him....Les Stroud = Survivorman. Oh, and John Borra was in attendance too. My toes are finally thawed. Standing outside for 2 hours was rough, but really, really worth it. We sure warmed up quickly when we got inside. We were sitting practically on the stage, just about as close as you can get.

Well I'm glad that I didn't miss any of The Sadies, but wow John Borra was in attendance, that would have been SWEET. I was home all night moping that I couldn't make it but there was no phone call. Unless someone called on Tony's cell cause I heard it ring and then there was a funny sound like a voicemail LOL NOOOOOOOO, who called? It only rang once though and I was right beside it so I would have picked up. But only one ring and then NOTHING so I didn't bother, thinking it was a wrong number. I can imagine your toes Rita, it always takes a while. But you're right, well worth it. I was thinking about the show ALL NIGHT LONG, it was horrible. I just didn't have the heart to go and maybe get everyone that I come in contact with, SICK.....just not in me to do that otherwise, I would have gone, no IFS, ANDS or BUTS. I would have been right beside you practically on the stage oooooohhhhhhhhhhhhh so sad

What a GREAT night!!! The wait outside was very chilly but meeting up with BR friends made it a whole lot more bearable. The wait gave us a chance to talk & joke, it was a good chilly time!! The entrance to the apartment upstairs helped too !! Whoever you are that said it was okay ` THANK-YOU!! What a wonderful charity "war child" is. http://www.warchild.ca/ The young lady that introduced the charity, thanked & welcomed everyone for coming was sweet . If you check out the website it will give some insight to the charity. It also tells what Jim & Greg were up too last night. The Dakato Tavern is a beautiful, quaint & clean country bar. The lovely lady that first came out, also to welcome everyone, I think was the owner. She has a very cozy welcoming little corner in Toronto if anyone is in the area looking for a nice meal, a drink with friends &/or live entertainment. http://www.thedakotatavern.com/ Jim Cuddy & Greg Keelor are real entertainers. The music was definitely 2 thumbs up, accoustic guitars, a mandolin, harmonicas & 2 of Canadas most familiar & awesome voices!! I'm glad I made the trip down & weathered the cold wait. There was lots of bantering with the audiences & lots of laughs. Like rodeohead said, it felt like being there with family. Ann has a setlist for everyone & it was really something. The one song that stood out for me was "Good Year for Roses" OMG!!! That was perfect for Jim's voice & what a voice the song really highlighted it, what a beautiful song!! I asked Greg later how Bazil was feeling & Greg said he was coming along. Cruisegirl might remember his exact words. I was glad to hear that & thought I'd pass it on I know all you peeps are thinking of Bazil too. I'll leave the rest for Ann's review expertise.
