We were playing a gig just outside of Detroit and there was this little river maybe 100 yards across, and the stage was on one side of the river and the audience was on the other... and there's all these boats going back and forth and every time a bigger boat went by, you couldn't see the audience and they couldn't hear you... it was just a pathetic gig, and after that show it was just another one of those depressing "What am I doing?" sort of nights, but the nice thing about the desperation is that there is that moment of when you start rising out of it - the second when it sort of becomes funny - and I thought, well, if this is useless then at least there's people around and we're doing it together." - Greg Keelor
