"Try was essentially a singing song. A lot of the things we did when we first started as a band were kind of unconscious - just put together - it relates to fragments of stories and advice songs, but really it was a singing song... just me trying to find an emotional way to sing. I wrote it in New York and it was quite different - the most significant thing about it is that it was one of the songs we brought back from New York (we had "Rose Coloured Glasses", "Floating", "Outskirts," & "Try,") and we realized that was the first time we'd had the experience of a song having such a strong effect on people" - Jim Cuddy
