Happy Birthday Jim!
In celebration of Mr. Cuddy's birthday today is an exclusive to iTunes Canada release of "Arrenpentido". This is Alex Cuba's Spanish adaptation of "Bad Timing". The story of how this song came together is quite interesting - you can read about it here. Listen to CBC Radio 2 Drive this afternoon, Tuesday, December 2 as Alex Cuba is Rich Terfry's special in-studio guest.

Jim Cuddy Band Concert Announcement

Tickets go on sale this Friday, November 21 at 11am EST in the BlueRodeo.com Store. BlueRodeo.com is the only place to buy tickets a full week before they go on sale to the public. It was in February of 2008 that Blue Rodeo performed three nights at Massey Hall – a performance that was captured and recently released as the Blue Road CD/DVD. This past summer, the Jim Cuddy Band was on the road (in between Blue Rodeo dates) as the support act for Sheryl Crow's tour, and garnered rave reviews everywhere he played. Two Concert Announcements
Just announced - two shows for Blue Rodeo fans in the Lindsay, ON and Cobourg, ON areas. On December 6 Blue Rodeo will be performing at the Lindsay Agricultural Society Exhibition Building. Presale tickets will be available through the BlueRodeo.com Store on Thursday, October 30. On November 19 get yourself to the Park Playhouse Theatre in Cobourg, ON for an evening with the Jim Cuddy Band. This show will also be available on Thursday, October 30 to BlueRodeo.com members through our Store. But hurry as these limited, very exclusive seats won't last long!

Blue Road DVD Screening: Toronto
We have been given a very limited number of tickets to a private screening of the Blue Road DVD. Check out a trailer of this documentary below. The DVD captures an intimate jam session as we sit in on the band playing a few of their favourite cover songs as well as two new tracks. The Blue Road documentary also includes footage of the band on the road and backstage during their Small Miracles Tour.
This screening party will be happening at Toronto's Camera Lounge (1028 Queen Street West - just west of Ossington) on November 9 (time still to be announced). We have three pairs of tickets that we will give to three randomly drawn entries. To enter, send your name, address, and daytime phone number to help@BlueRodeo.com by November 4 at 11:00 pm EST. Winners will receive two passes to the screening where there’s a chance they might bump into a band member or two.

Blue Road Presale

Blue Road: Live at Massey Hall
Earlier this year, at the end of February, Blue Rodeo played three wonderful shows at Massey Hall in Toronto, ON. For those of you lucky enough to be there on those bone-chillingly
cold winter nights, you witnessed the guys warming the hometown crowd with a couple of hours of classic Blue Rodeo.
On October 28, Blue Rodeo will release Blue Road, a live recording of select songs from those performances. In fact, it's the first ten songs of the night, all performed acoustically. Track list includes “Try”, “5 Days in May”, “Rebel”, “Bad Timing” and more.
But that's not all! Blue Road also has an accompanying DVD – Live at Massey Hall Bootleg. Those ten songs were captured and are presented on this DVD for you to relive those nights.
Would you like more? How about a documentary by Juno-winning video director, Christopher Mills. See behind-the-scenes outtakes in Greg's home studio and the guys performing a
handful of cover songs, "in the round".

A quick update about this Saturday's show in Mount Forest. The show is being moved to the Old Roxy, 116 Main St N. (www.oldroxy.ca). Just announced: The Jim Cuddy Band will reactivate to open a series of three shows on Sheryl Crow's upcoming Canadian tour this fall. The dates in question are: September 23 at Kingston's KROQ Centre, September 24 at the John Labatt Centre in London, ON and September 25 at Sault St. Marie's Steelback Centre. Blue Rodeo have booked their annual late August dates at Toronto's Molson Amphitheatre and Vancouver's Malkin Bowl and BlueRodeo.com is giving you the first chance to get tickets to these shows, when our presales being this Friday, May 16. The August 21 show in Toronto will go on sale at 11 am EDT. The presale for the August 23 and August 24 shows in Vancouver will follow at 9 am PDT. A clean sweep for Blue Rodeo!

Third nights added in Belleville and Peterborough
Southern Ontario just can't get enough: due to the extremely high demand, Blue Rodeo have added third nights to their stands in both Belleville and Peterborough. The new Peterborough show is set for May 7, with the new Belleville date scheduled for the following night, May 8.

Blue Rodeo in Kandahar
After wrapping up a successful trip to Austin's SXSW music festival, the members of Blue Rodeo headed to some place very different - Kandahar, Afghanistan. Canada's media has taken quite an interest in the band's trip to entertain our troops. Articles about their adventure to Afghanistan have appeared on CTV.ca, in the Ottawa Sun and by Canadian Press, among other sources. Also along for the trip were chief of defence staff Gen. Rick Hillier, several former NHL players and the Stanley Cup itself.
Blue Rodeo did bring their cameras with them and we're hoping they took some great shots that we'll be able to share with all of you.

The bassman steps out

After 20 years as the rock solid foundation of Blue Rodeo, bass player extraordinaire Bazil Donovan has finally released his debut solo album, Matinee. The twelve song collection of classic country standards features a number of guests, including Justin Rutledge, David Baxter, Bob Packwood, Jim Cuddy, Greg Keelor, Travis Good, and Lori Yates.

Four more shows announced
It's a big day for Ontario: Blue Rodeo have just confirmed four new shows in the coming months. First up, hot on the heels of their sold-out April 15 gig at Belleville's Empire Theatre, they've added a second show on April 14. The BlueRodeo.com presale begins tomorrow morning at 10:00 am EST.
Next up, on April 16 the band will stop in Brockville, followed by Sudbury on April 18 and Peterborough on May 5. The sales for all three of these shows kick off Monday morning, February 25, at 11:00 am EST, so make sure you're logged in and ready to go at that time!

Blue Rodeo Receive Three 2008 Juno Award Nominations!
At a press conference this morning, it was announced that Blue Rodeo have been nominated for three Juno Awards, including Group of the Year. The band was also received nods in the Adult Alternative Album of the Year for Small Miracles and Video of the Year for their Christopher Mills directed clip for "C'Mon".
Other nominees include One Degree artists The Sadies (Roots and Traditional Album of the Year: Group), Justin Rutledge, Oh Susanna! (both Roots and Traditional Album of the Years: Solo) and Richard Underhill (Instrumental Album of the Year). Congrats to all!
The Juno Awards will be presented on Sunday April 6 in a ceremony to be broadcast nationally on CTV. Check your local listing for airtimes and make sure you tune in to root for the band!

Tonight, Friday, February 1, CBC Radio 2's Canada Live will broadcast Blue Rodeo's January 7 show at Edmonton's Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium. Beginning at 8 pm with Luke Docuet and the White Falcon's opening set, the entire show will be broadcast nationally. You can also stream the show directly from the CBC Radio 2 website.
