Congratulations Jim Cuddy

On Friday night, Jim picked up the award Adult Alternative Album of the Year, beating such tough competition as Neil Young and Ron Sexsmith.

Sadly, Jim’s Juno hockey team the Rockers weren’t so lucky. On Saturday they lost the Juno Cup to the NHL Greats by a score of 11-9. To chat about the Juno Cup, head over here. To chat about Jim’s Juno win, check out this thread.

Catch the Corner Gas season finale!

On Monday, March 12, CTV will be airing the season finale of their hit comedy Corner Gas. Blue Rodeo fans will likely want to catch this as we’re told that “Bad Timing” plays a key role in the episode. Corner Gas airs at 8pm on CTV channels across Canada.

This Year’s Songwriters’ Circle to Feature Jim Cuddy

Jim Cuddy has been named as the host of this year’s Junos Songwriters’ Circle. Every year, the Songwriters’ Circle gives ordinary people the opportunity to get up close and personal with some of Canada’s finest songwriters who share their stories and songs that made them famous during an afternoon concert. This year’s Circle also feature Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Colin James and Susan Aglukark and takes place on Sunday, April 1, 2007 at the Sid Buckwold Theatre in Saskatoon, SK.

Tickets for this intimate event will go sale through Ticketmaster starting on March 3 at 10am CT. Tickets can also be purchased by calling 306-938-7800. For more information on the Songwriters’ Circle, check out its website.

Catch Words to Music: The Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame….

… and watch Jim and Oh Susanna perform a wonderful cover of Sylvia Tyson’s “You Were On My Mind.” This awards show, which honours the best in Canadian songwriting, will air on CBC Television on Monday, March 5 at 8:00pm (8:30NT) local time. Other performances include George Canyon covering Wilf Carter and Measha Brueggergosman’s amazing interpretation of Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now.”

Jim is Nominated for Two Junos

Congratulations Jim on your Juno nominations! Jim is up for Single of the Year for “Pull Me Through” and for Adult Alternative Album of the Year for The Light That Guides You Home. This year’s Juno Awards will be handed out in Saskatoon on Sunday, April 1. You can watch and see if Jim picks up an award or two by tuning into CTV the night of April 1.

Catch Jim Paying Tribute to Paul Simon this Thursday on CBC Television

Last summer, during the Montréal International Jazz Festival, Jim took part in a special concert entitled “A Tribute to Paul Simon.” On Thursday, February 1, CBC Television will air a recording of that show that features Jim and other musical greats such as Elvis Costello, Colin James, Holly Cole and Daniel Lanois paying tribute to Paul Simon.. Catch it on your local CBC station at 9pm local time.

The Glorious Decline Makes CMJ’s Top Ten List

We here at BlueRodeo.com want to congratulate Bob Egan on having his current solo record, The Glorious Decline, named as one of CMJ New Music‘s top ten albums of 2006.
