In Memoriam

July 6, 2010

Some sad news has come across the Blue Rodeo desk as news of two dear friends passing reached us. Legendary Red Wing/Blackhawk bruiser Bob Probert died July 5 near Windsor, ON. Probert was a member of the NHL Greats pitting him against Jim Cuddy and his Rockers in several Juno Cups. As well, Probert joined Blue Rodeo and several fellow NHL stars in Afghanistan in 2008 when the Stanley Cup toured the Kandahar Air Base. Bob Probert was 45.

And Miriam “Mimi” Braidberg of Mimi’s Restaurant succumbed to a heart attack on July 4. Mimi was the proprietor of Mimi’s Restaurant, situated just north of Queen and Bathurst in Toronto, ON. The restaurant was a regular for the hip music crowd of the 80s and 90s. She was a long time supporter of Blue Rodeo, and even named a chili after them on the menu. Read about Mimi, “Toronto’s Blintz Queen,” here on The Pulmyears Music Blog.
