Blue Rodeo Inducted To The Canadian Music Hall Of Fame

The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) announced this morning that Blue Rodeo are the 2012 inductees to the Canadian Music Hall Of Fame. The band will be honoured during the 41st annual Juno Awards ceremony, set for April 1, 2012 at Ottawa’s Scotiabank Place, and will be broadcast across the country on CTV.

Speaking about the band’s induction, CARAS President and CEO, Melanie Barry, says: “Blue Rodeo is indisputably one of Canada’s most beloved bands, and I’m pleased that they are continuing their craft and sharing their incredible gift of songwriting and musicality to yet another generation of music lovers. I join millions of Canadians in congratulating Blue Rodeo on this great achievement.”

In reaction to the announcement, Jim Cuddy says: “We couldn’t be more honoured to be going into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. We have always been grateful for our long musical journey above the 49th parallel.”

Jim Cuddy has been selected as one CBC Radio’s Top 50 Artists of 2011, joining a stellar, diverse list of Canadian and International artists, including Blue Rodeo friends Cuff The Duke, Ron Sexsmith, and Wilco. The countdown of the Top 50 will air on CBC Radio 2’s Drive on December 30, but it’s up to listeners to determine the order of that countdown.
