Blue Rodeo Part Of Q Concert

Hey, Ottawa! As part of this year’s Junos. Blue Rodeo will be performing in a special concert on March 29, at the Bronson Centre Theatre. The show will be hosted by Jian Ghomeshi of CBC Radio’s Q, and will also feature Austra and Dan Mangan. Tickets are available now through Ticketmaster. Don’t worry if you can’t get to the show, as you’ll be able to catch the show on CBC Radio One the following morning.

Your Photo Could Be At The Junos

JUNOs-logo-09As you know, Blue Rodeo will be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame as part of the 2012 Juno Awards ceremony on April 1. During the presentation, there will be a photo montage of the guys through the years and we need your help to create it.

Over the years, many of you have submitted fantastic shots of the band to our Photo Gallery. Now, if you send us your best high res photo of Blue Rodeo, it may be featured in the photo montage, which will be broadcast during the ceremonies on CTV!

Since any photos used will be part of a national broadcast, please be sure to read the terms of use and click “I agree to the above” to submit your favourite shot. to submit your favourite shot. We’re looking forward to seeing your photos!

Then, on April 1, tune into the 2012 Juno Awards to see if your photo makes it into the montage. Blue Rodeo will also be performing that night, so don’t miss it.

Down And Out In Upalong, In Stores April 10

BR_KeelorGoodPinsentAs we mentioned a couple of weeks ago, Greg has been working with actor Gordon Pinsent and Travis Good of the Sadies on a project that will see Pinsent’s poetry set to music. The resulting album, entitled Down And Out In Upalong, will be released April 10 and is available now for pre-order as a CD, on vinyl, and as a digital download.

If you’re in Toronto on April 12, stop by The Drake Hotel and see the trio showcase Down And Out In Upalong in person. In the meantime, there’s a wonderful featurette about the process of making the album up at the newly launched DownAndOutAndUpalong.com. Enjoy!

Jim Guests In New Classified Video

Greg’s not the only one who’s been busy with interesting side projects. Never let it be said that Jim is one to rest on his laurels. On the latest single from Nova Scotia hip hop artist Classified, “The Hangover”, Jim helps out with the vocal hook (borrowed from Diana Ross’ mega hit “Love Hangover”) and can be seen in the song’s video, which just made its debut last week.

The track is featured on Classified’s latest release, Handshakes & Middle Fingers, available now.

Blue Rodeo Inducted To The Canadian Music Hall Of Fame

The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) announced this morning that Blue Rodeo are the 2012 inductees to the Canadian Music Hall Of Fame. The band will be honoured during the 41st annual Juno Awards ceremony, set for April 1, 2012 at Ottawa’s Scotiabank Place, and will be broadcast across the country on CTV.

Speaking about the band’s induction, CARAS President and CEO, Melanie Barry, says: “Blue Rodeo is indisputably one of Canada’s most beloved bands, and I’m pleased that they are continuing their craft and sharing their incredible gift of songwriting and musicality to yet another generation of music lovers. I join millions of Canadians in congratulating Blue Rodeo on this great achievement.”

In reaction to the announcement, Jim Cuddy says: “We couldn’t be more honoured to be going into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. We have always been grateful for our long musical journey above the 49th parallel.”

Jim Cuddy has been selected as one CBC Radio’s Top 50 Artists of 2011, joining a stellar, diverse list of Canadian and International artists, including Blue Rodeo friends Cuff The Duke, Ron Sexsmith, and Wilco. The countdown of the Top 50 will air on CBC Radio 2’s Drive on December 30, but it’s up to listeners to determine the order of that countdown.

Head to CBC.ca now to vote for Jim as your favourite artist of 2011! Voting closes on December 19, so be sure to vote before then, and the remember to tune in on December 30 to hear the results!
